Thread: Piket Hunting On Dantooine
Ok I've been reading over a bunch of threads and some older ones and it appears that some people are having a rough go with these buggers on dant. So I thought that I would clear things up in the hope that no more questions are raised about these.
Many times people have asked advice on where and how to get xp and many times people have suggested (myself included) going to dantooine to kill some pikets. However a lot of folks seem to be having trouble with these guys and I'm going to explain how its done.
The missions you should be looking for are called PIKET LONGHORN LAIRS. Not piket plains walkers, not piket protectors but piket longhorns. Now I will explain the difference.
PIKET PLAINS WALKERS -These missions go for around 9k and are attainable by anyone by themselves. When you arrive at the lair there is 'usually' two pikets and one piket plains walker around the lair. If you attack ANY of the three ALL will assist the one being attacked. This makes these missions very hard for lower skilled players. The xp isn't that great and they are hard to do. Avoid these missions.
PIKET PROTECTORS - These missions go for around 15k and require several people or pets to boost the terminal to get them. When you arrive at the lair what 'usually' is there is two pikets and one fierce piket protector, sometimes its just two fpps, it varies. Once again if you attack ANY of the pikets at this lair ALL will assist and for further goodness the fierce piket protectors will deathblow you. Again avoid these missions.
PIKET LONGHORNS - These are the ones you want. These missions go for around 12k and require at the least 2 people usually 3 to acquire from the terminal (if you are a loser and have no friends then either join a group to get your missions or have a couple people join you for a minute to boost the terminal). When your arrive at the lair there is 'usually' 2 piket longhorn females and 1 piket longhorn. Now what makes this different from the other piket missions and thus making it easier is that piket longhorn females DO NOT ASSIST. They will stand there and do nothing while you kill the males (who DO assist btw) and the other females. Now a piket longhorn female 'should' be soloable by a novice pikeman with no skill boxes. Why I say should is because you still need tactics and the proper weapons but it can be done fairly easy. The male on the other hand most likely can not be killed by a piker with no boxes and you will either require help or stims or buffs etc. etc. Xp for these things goes around 3k per piket longhorn female 4.5k per piket longhorn male and about 4k for the lair.
