I was wandering what made you pikeman's pick this profession? I am curious of what specials you get to make you want to do this. I have never really heard much about it and am curious.

Thank You

Tell you what I liked when I started way back 2 days after launch. It was the idea of the sweeps. I really relished the thought of being able to drop an opponent at will and then beat on him whilst he lay helpless on the ground. In the begining all was well, I'd lay a sweep and then smack them up with a polearm hit 2. When they got up I'd repeat the whole thing over. Yes in those early days I was the envy of my friends. I led many a hunt party to the squill cave where my ability to area sweep those buggers kept me in many a players favour as all were able to gain xp off my great kd ability.

And then they nerfed kd and turned into a d@mn pumpkin. But of course I was commited to the profession by then and wouldn't give it up for anything.

Now if your question is how good are pikeman. I'd have to say better then fencers and swordsman (with proper tactics) nowhere near as good as tkas. As for blastmonkeys that is entirely realtive depending on what they have in their hands. Commandos and BHs with crappy weapons are easy enough to fight. Pistoleers/Smugglers are a tough batch and can whup a brothers ass. Carbineers are a bigger joke then pikeman IMHO. Rifleman are plenty easy if you can get close.

That's my 2 creds worth.

I chose this profession after having tried out a variety of others and I found myself realizing that no other profession gives the uniquenss and feeling of pride and honor that this, the pikeMan profession gives.

The specials ofthe pikeMan are a wast arsenal of devestating damage hits, bleeds(DoT), area attacks, KDs, Stuns, Wounds, etc... In the end it's only the limitation of our selves that hold us back.

If you want uniqueness, this is the profession you want.

Well I've been a pikeman (woman) from day one of joining. Also initially headed for Master Marksman and Brawler, so have at least layer 3 in all. Everything else just seemed dull in comparison. Nothing is better than standing in front of a critter charging towards a marksman (profession) and knocking it off it's feet as it passes by. Have saved many a person, many a time. Just wish those guys with blasters would stop running around like cowards, a nightmare trying to save their asses!!!

Thank You Very Much, I have one more question.

Do you get anything similiar to Unarmed Toughness, or any melee mitigation?

I picked pikeman because I've always liked the weapons better (because of the look). I later found that once I picked up one of our so-called "high-end" weapons how bad we really were... but I had fun. Then the holo told me master tka and I played for a week before I got bored, haven't been playing for nearly a month now. I'm considering just going back to pikeman once I finish playing KOTOR (god that game is awesome).

All melee professions recieve a profession specific toughness, however, the amount of toughness greatly varies.

Teras Kasi Master recieved 57 toughness(or a 57% base reduction in melee damage taken), while a Master PIkeman I believe only recieves 27.

All melee professions aswell recieve melee mitigation.

Originally I wanted something to stack with carbineer (action damage) then I noticed how cool people looked running around with those LVA's and how sweet the combat animations looked.

I went from carbineer to BH to melee and when I came back to melee I knew I wanted pikeman.

For me it's all about damage, being unique (least played profession) and looking awesome when I drop something with polearmhit2 and slapping an actionshot2 bleed on something.
