Hello everyone! Sorry about the pikeman noobness....but everyone's gotta start somewhere?

1. Whatis the absolute best weapon(s) we can use, damage wise? Or is it just a matter of opinion? I've been told around 600 is the highest damage a pike can have (after slice)...but after reading around here...seems not to be the case. Can someone clarify...?

2. I have two sets of armor, one awesome set for PvP and one decent set for PvE. What armor/clothing attachments would be a good combofor each ?

3. In regards to foods/drinks...if I'mdoc/ent. buffed on all 9 stats, what would give me a little extra boost in grinding and/or PvP?

My apologies again for being a noob....

The Long Vibro Axe is easily our best weapon. Kinetic damage, AP2, and our highest damage weapon. Its downside is it's relatively slow and terribly inaccurate (expect to miss a lot). The highest damage crafted LVA you're likely to find is in the low 500s after a slice.

A lot of the weapons mentioned around here are looted. Most looted weapons are junk, but compared to other professions it's relatively easy to find looted polearms that are better than crafted ones.

The only pikeman-specific armor attachments that work are polearm speed, polearm accuracy, and block. Polearm evasion, polearm counterattack, and polearm damage do nothing.

If you're doc and entertainer buffed you probably don't need to worry too much about HAM issues while grinding, so the best foods would likely be ones that enhance your accuracy, such as Citros Snow Cake.

You will want to cap yourself on Speed and Accuracy as soon as possible....once you get to that level,Pikeman is a whole new profession.

LVAs are you best choice....as stated. Though once in awhile you will want to use a good VL in PvE. Stay away from NS lances, even the exceptional ones with over 1K damage, their low minimums and AP0 will hinder damage output.

As for food, besides normally PvP food, accuracy food is pretty hand.

And remember that you need to be patient, until you get your speed and accuracy skills taken care of, Pikeman is a very.... very slow grind. Citros Snow Cake and a good book can help take care of the boredom!

Actually, I've found the opposite to be true.

Now, I don't grind professions, generally, so my experience is somewhat limited.

But I'm getting about a box per buff session. Currently 1000 Pikeman, with enough xp to train to 2000 once I get to a trainer (and an hour left on the session).

I quite like Endor for hunting as it doesn't require a solo group (ick, I hate the very concept of them), and I can gain about 20k per mission, nevermind the natural lairs that are all over the place.

Get yourself 50% kinetic Ubese, some buffs and Brandy, and away you go.

50%?!?!! Man, you need to get yourself some 65%-72%! And quick!

I suppose I compare the grind to TK and Fencer:

Pikeman- 1.5 months <--- not exacly rushing myself though

TK- 2 weeks

Fencer 3 weeks

I supose no grind is very long if you know what your doing, so on that note: QUENKERS!

Why?

It does the job.

Until last week, I was working with 32% Chitin.

More precisely, I'm getting about 300k Polearm XP per buff session on Endor. I'm fairly happy with this.

Currently I'm using a 137-515/2.8 VL, a friend has an awesome looted LVA for me to use once I hit master, the durability is too low to use for grinding. I've seen several of the NS lances, we have a backpack of those in our guild hall, not a big fan of those,I keep one with mefor the occasionalyPvPingfor the DoTs.

The grind hasn't been very slow so far..I'm 0402, will be 1402 after I get to a trainer, and I just started last Saturday.I already have two sets of armor...one is 60-something base for grinding and the other is around 80% base for PvP and tougher baddies. With full buffs and brandy (or ent. buff), I'mdoingPiket missionson Dantooine, not in a solo group. Pikets are giving me 3-4k xp a piece right now, running about 36-40k per mission, each one takes about 15-20 minutes. What's good to hunt on Endor? If I can get more xp in less time somewhere else...trust me, I'll go there

As for capping on speed and accuracy....aside from being master, what else would get me there quicker? I'm still working on getting Snow Cakes, as suggested earlier.

One more question...maybe I should post this elsewhere, but does armor have to be crafted with attachments, or can they be added in later...? I really love both sets of my armor, and would hate to part with either of them....

Thanks for all the help guys. Keep the suggestions coming.

I'll answer your armor question.

Armor (as far as I know) cannot be crafted with attachments. You have to put them in later.

Thanks for the help! Sounds like pikets and all the guys you were talking about are about the same xp wise...as for time...there are more pikets per mission that what you listed, but less time...yadda yadda...things probably break even in the end. I'll probably head out to Endor when I get off work, just for a change of scenery...that bright pink and purple of Dant are starting to get old, and so is getting attacked by a hundred of thosethune mothersthat ALWAYS seem to be right next to all my missions....they really like to dizzy and KD

Thanks again

< What's good to hunt on Endor? >

Lots o' stuff.

Bordok missions. about 3700xp per Bordok Mare. 6 per lair, plus 3 more others (either Bordok Foals for 2700 each, or Bordok Studs for about 3400 or so). They'll Stun/Dizzy/KD/Intimidate you, so they're a tough, plus 30% Kin resistance.

Forrest Gurrck Stalkers. 3700 each or so again. 6 per lair.

Crimson Blurrgs. Same again, 6 per lair.

Missions take about 10 minutes, I guess.

In addtion to them, Endor fairly swarms with critters, so it's easy enough to pick up a 'target of opportunity' for some bonus xp.

***Avoid*** Aracnes and Mereks, unless poison buffed.

***Avoid*** Mantigrues unless Disease buffed. I've gotten 400-per-tick disease off these bad boys......
