I see many posts about the different polearm weapons, but pretty much no one mentions the metal staff. From what I saw between a dropped combat staff and a metal staff, the metal staff is the better of the two, but I see no posts about people using them.

Does anyone use a metal staff? If so, then what are the stats of a player crafted one? Just wondering if I should get a player crafted one, since I think I could get a better one than my player made lance due to the experimenting being higher on the metal one. (in theory)

I prefer my reinforced combat staff a lot better. If you haven't learned by now, don't use dropped equipment. Talk to a weaponsmith and have him make you a quality weapon.

I know about the dropped thing. The things is, I have never seen a player crafted metal staff. I have a player made lance, but I do not care too much for the variance in damage.

The dropped metal staves have a higher damage than the dropped combat staves, so it stands to reason that the player made metal staves would be better than the combat staves.

I use a metal staff. I have no idea if it is a droped one. The dmg is something like 58-77 and speed of like 6 or 6.1. Personally i like it better than the combat staff I bought. The only thing i dislike is the speed and I'm saving right now for armour so i don't want to spend money getting the speed increased. Personally I think my staff can hold me till novice pikemen so i will wait till then. Then i will get a new staff.

I have a re-inforced combat staff with 4.3 speed 55-100 dmg... MUCH better than that, and the special move cost id much less... Lances suck real bad at the moment on Starsider.

Nice combat staff, mine is 49-103 4.4. The HAM is so low, which is why I love it and still use it, especially for sweeps.

I will be blunt and honest with you future pikeman who think you will stick with a low low low lvl pole all the way to novice pikeman and those who are saving up for armor before weapon HAHAHA.

1st off im a pole/pikeman on tarquinas, and from my own exp, go with a lance that has been sliced by a smuggler!!!!!Even skip armor if you have to, to save up for the sliced lance. Low lvl armor is about useless in SWG IMO. Why go with lance, well my first lance did 198dmg with a 5.5 speed, my current lance that has been maxed out sliced does 245dmg with a 4.1 speed and then when i throw a power up on it, wow. it cost me 20k to get and that was less then he wanted for it. Heck all armor did was hinder me, i were my reg clothes or sometimes a jumpsuit, with a vest, no armor, no shield generators. I easily take on single yellows, and if i know a red is close to being a yellow its 50%. All i use is pole hit 1 and i will use a melee D reducing trap (creatures only) to win battles. I have done as much as 500-700 damage at times, average about 150-170 on a consistant basis. Heck i one or two shot alot of whites.

only reason to stay staff in my personal opinion, is to ROLE PLAY. I had a friend on AC who only wore leather and used a simple staff. More power to you that can do that, i dont have the paitents for that die hard of rpg, tho i stay in char in game.

1 last thing, find shops, stay away from the bazzar, yea you might save money, but you will be severly handicap with inferior product. find a player made shop and knuckle out the cash, it dont take long, heck doing missions in bestine i get about 10-15k an hour and thats goofing around. If missions too hard, little secret, missions lvl is selected based on the curent lvl of you equiped weapon and your skill using it, so get a weapon you suck at and equip it while selecting a mission, it will be a lower mission and not worth much xp for your main skill, but if you pick 2 missions in same dir for 1-1.5k you can make moola quick with easy. Once you get a good player made weapon you like, start looking for a good smugler, and see if he can make or get you a second weapon that is maxed out with slice skill, believe me thats were the power is.

I went all the way to Novice Pikeman with my Reinforced Combat Staff because it was the only thing availible, weaponsmiths weren't even crafting lances yet. I never got myself a lance, just went straight from my reinforced combat staff to my vibro lance and long vibro axe, but my reinforced combat staff still serves it's purpose greatly so I will probably always use it in my arsenal until I pick up a lance and compare it.

Actually my coments were not intended for those who had no choice, as lances havnt been out too long, but meerly for those who now have a choice.I didnt have much of achoice in gettingto adv pistol with anything more than a cdef,but would i do it again that way, no.I love the look and feel of a staff over a lance, but wow the damage.I even played a staff up till sat, and really find it hard to want to go back, maybe they will see the lite and make a vibro staff.
