Thread: Please show your support for all Brawling professions in this Developer's Tracker Topic!
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Development&message.id=204563#M204563
It is common knowledge that all brawler professions are totally owned by all marksmen professions in player-versus-player combat for the simple reason that we cannot defeat their Run & Gun tactics. We cannot attack on the run and we have to be closer than 5 meters from our enemy to fight back. Unless a marksmen is asleep at the keyboard, or careless enough to enter our very small combat range, we have no chance of winning a PvP fight.
It seems the general consensus feels that "all brawling professions should not have a fair chance to win in PvP because it defeats the realism (in a computer game based on a science fiction/fantasy movie???) of a gun versus melee fight in real life", and that "Melee classes should not even be in SWG because there is no and/or little documentation to support their existence in the Star Wars galaxy".
In fact, in various threads, many have expressed the sentiments that PvP should not be balanced and fair for all combat classes, and that brawler professions should just accept that they have a zero percent chance of winning against a marksman profession in PvP.
I don't know about anyone else here, but I do not enjoy unbalanced games that offer me a zero percent chance of winning. Nor do I find it fun to win one-hundred percent of the time, or to lose one-hundred percent of the time.
Again, please make your voice heard in favor of PvP balance for all Brawler Professions in this Developer's Tracker topic that has the attention of the SWG developers.
Thank you!

it's not that we don't want balance, it's just that we have as much balance as we need.
We can trip them, we get more defense, we can lunge for longer reach. Really, what do you want? To be able to pick them off at 30+ meaters? We already havea ridiculous range of around 15.
the game should be blaster beter then melee unless your a jedi
if you get close enough to use a melee weapon use it No one is stoping you from getting a Blaster out and shooting them while you chase..
Maybe level up Pistoleer or Smuggler just enough to get aRanged Knock down ?
Shoot them down run over and smash them?
GrendelsMotheris my hero. All those points make for balanced as well asrealistic play.If nothing else, firing on the run should significantly slow your running speed so the melee person hassome chance to catchup. Also, nobody should be taken out in less than 5 shots, that is just rediculously boringgameplay.
For the record, I am a Novice Pistoleer and I am awfully bored by the fact that I can take out a Master TK/Pikeman/Fencer/Swordsman WITHOUT EVEN GETTING HIT, on a CONTINUOUS BASIS. Not to mention do insane wound dmg to their constitution bar with my health shot.
Give the poor bastards something... I could live with Marksmen having an edge. If the average marksman won 60% of the battles, that would be fine. Even 70% wouldn't be so bad. But when a Novice MM can beat a Master Brawler 100% of the time without even suffering a hit, what the bleedin' point?!
Either something must be done or we face the eventual possibilty of 4 elite professions no one will want to play.
I have always agreed about the whole bleeding laser thing, but that is a different matter as opposed to this. If you're fighting a pistol user and the fight starts at 65m, how you can realistically accept to win in ANY circumstance is beyond me. I've said this before and I'll say it again. Who are you placing the betting on, Indiana Jones or the guy with the scimitar?
And Pistoleers DO get major reductions when they run and shoot. It's actually an ability of theirs to lower that horrible negative accuracy while in motion. Even masters have a negative to accuracy. The reason why you dont' notice is because thye have a higher rof. Which, of course makes sense.
As for CH, they are a combat class. The classes can go into three categories. Combat, Support and Crafters. CH are definitely not crafters. Support entails healers, entertainers, scouts, etc. CH on the other hand get most of their xp from FIGHTING with their pets. Their pets do nothing but FIGHT. There are no skills their pets have that aren't oriented to fighting. Even their tricks aren't for play or show, but to heal mind WOUNDS. How anyone can say they are not a combat class is beyond me.
I really could care less if its realstic thats not why i play... I play for fun and when i'm getting my ass kicked every time i try and fight a marksmen then that is not fun.
