Thread: Clarification on the Effects of blind/dizzy/intimidate/stun etc....?

Ok, I am a little confused here. I was soloing in the Squill Cave on Tatooine, earning some easy exp (i was buffed) and i started fighting three guardians. I had been having no problems with other squills, because i was doing good damage to them with PH2 (around 2000-2500) but then one of the guardians used intimidate on me and my damage dropped to around 300-1000 max per hit. I noticed similar effects if i was blinded, stunned or dizzy'd (although the effects weren't cumulative).

Has anyone else noticed this? Or am I just asking a really stupid noob question?

The thing about your stupid noob question is that many long-time players (like myself) still don't know exactly what a lot of the stuff does. Here is what I know.

Intimidate - Cuts your damage in half

Stun - Cuts your defenses in half

Blind - Has a similar effect as stun I believe

Dizzy -Ummmm ... dizzies you so you can't get up ... I dunno.

I really don't know exactly what each does but I think those are close.

Intimidate and dizzy are just like Legwand says. Dizzy makes it such that there's a chance the target will fall down when attempting to change posture. Note that I said attempt. I used to have a macro where I'd /stand then /healstate. I used this several times to try to get rid of dizzy before I got knocked down, but would fall down no matter what. I removed /stand from the macro and was then able to heal dizzy without falling down.

I think blind affects your accuracy. I've noticed more misses when blinded, but this was not in a controlled environment so I'm really not sure.

Stun I have no idea. This is the first time I've heard that the defense is cut in half. Other speculations I've heard include decreasing attack speed and decreasing damage done.

stun is one of the worst state modifiers to get hit with. it slowers your attack speed a bit, it cuts your defense down (if you can land stun on a defense mod stacker, you can then hit them normally) and it slows your stat regens, even if you're buffed.

blind will also make you easier to hit. i guess if you can't see, you can't dodge/evade/whatever.

dizzy also prevents you from burst running.

intimidate not only cuts your damage in half, it also negates your secondary defense mods. so fencers can be hit easier if you intimidate them first, as their dodge mods will be negated.

all of these will not let you sit or meditate (if you have tka). so if you're poisoned/diseased, and you want to meditate these off, you can't if you have a state mod on you.

and to make it worse stun even makes your damage numbers lower. without stun I usually hit for 1700 damge. stunned I hit like 1300. so it seems stun roughly lowers your max hit by 20%

Damn how I hate stun... if your hit by stun+intimitate you can as well peace, almost same dps lol

With these state changes and their effects you would think that some of these people in other professions who whine about other professions in PvP would learn how to take advantage of these states instead of whining for nerfs.

Now you guys can see the raw power of a shot the MBH has called sprayshot.

Blind, dizzy, stun in one shot that can hit for over 800 pvp damage with medium AR.

Sauer Siggy-- Nerfed and cancelled
