Why is it that I use sweep2 on a rancor and get the message "your attack failed to knock down the target" when the TKM next to me is dropping them left and right. Since when does kicking something that big in the shin make it fall more than cracking it witha big stick? Am I doing something wrong or do tkms just have a better ability to knock things down for the same skill point price?

i have been playing with all 3 pike KD'd for a while, trying to figure out which works best. it seems, that sweep1 is the most effective (not as good as TK's. bleh) lunge2 comes in second, with sweep2 being the worst (but AOE, so i expected it to be a little less accurate)

any one get difrent results?

not really but yea sweep1 for single targets only sweep2 is not goin to help you KD a single target better

sweep2 is totally great for multiple targets (hence thats what is meant for) but personally from just usin it i get a Posture Change more wit Ph3 than lunge

so basically if there still running away from me and are in the 10m range im still using ph3 (more damage and to me i get the posture change more) but if they step into the 12m range lunge lunge lunge

I never use Sweep2 for single knockdown, there i prefer the Lunge2. Lunge2 is good becuase it have the 20m range. I havnt experimented with sweep1 simply becuase the fail rate on lunge2 is below 10% (in PvE).

Sweep2 is what i call a real crowd pleaser. I normally hunt Jantas or other (non-ranged/force) npcs. My opening is charge with a warcry2, then do 3 Area2 (for stun and dizzy), then 2 Sweep2 to knock everyone of their feets, after that i season with Spin1 until evryone is dead.

Note: i have a 50% kin armor on, and never go in combat without buffings.

Well, I just confirmed it. Had a duel using this basic macro for the attack:

/polearmsweep1;
/pause 7; (to allow time to get back up)
/polearmhit3;

No problems at all causing a posture change with PH3 immediately after a knockdown. I also tested it out with sweep2 as the knockdown and lunge1 as the posture change and they work the same. I don't have lunge2, but I'd be willing to bet it's on the same timer with the sweeps.

The only thing that didn't work was sweep1 + sweep2 within 30 seconds or PH3 + lunge1 within 30 seconds. And of course any single attack only worked once within a 30 second period.

For kicks, I also tested stacking DoT effects. Had no problem at all stacking actionhit1 + actionhit2 + action poison staff + action poison VL. Forgot to throw in a poison lance, but I'll do that later. I'd be shocked if it didn't work too.

FYI, the tick on a bleed is now 1/5th the damage stated in the combat spam.

I've noticed this too. PH3 does seem to be able to drop higher-levels NPCs that sweeping won't in many instances.

I'm also under the impression that PH3 is not on the same timer as knockdowns. Very often it seems that I can knock something down and then when it gets back up a PH3 will take it to its knees. I have a lousy sense of time, though, so has anyone else noticed this?

it isn't on the same timer.....a deadly combo is sweep until it drops the hit it twice with ph3 & it will get up but do more damage

yes most def and if you have a low spd lance or a high spd mod you allowed 3 of em but i usually get the KD and either do spinattack2 ph3 ph3 or ph3 ph3 spinattack2 (depends on who/wat im fighting to determine if spinattack2 is at the beginning or the end of this assualt)

This lil assualt usually guarntees me a dizzy 75% of the time so can still get a posture change once the target gets up from the KD ph3 bug we got and they will fall again then you can start appling the various lances (DoTs) or spam pa2 either seems to work for me
