I just hope that Gunman can force the devs to make a few interim changes to improve pikeman
But does anyone else get the impression that the dev's conversation went something like this?
Dev1: The combat balance is going to take a long time to complete
Dev2: Well we can't put off JTL
Dev1: How about we push the balance back a few months?
Dev2: After JTL?
Dev1: Yeah, by then no one will care about ground based combat anyway

Or maybe it went:
Dev1: You know, this cobat balance will apply to all the interactive combat in the game, right?
Dev2: Yeah.
Dev1: Hmmm. . .because I'm thinking, if there will be combat in space, as well as on the surface, wouldn't it be better to wait until JTL is out, that way if there are any issues, we can balance them all at once.?
Dev2(scratches chin contemplatively): You know, you have a point. This way the Combat Revamp will take care of everything for the most part. Think we should hold off on it?
Dev1: Yeah,I mean it makes sense, don't you think? This way all the combat can be fixed with one revamp. If JTL has no balancing issues, so much the better.
Dev2:You know that many players will complain about the delay. Lament about how SWG is going down the tubes, threatening to cancel their accounts.
Dev1:Yeah well, many of them will complain anyway. If we released JTL then the combat revamp or if we waited on JTL and released combat revamp, first. Sometimes with some of these people you are damned if you do, damned if you don't. Makes me wonder why they left that PERFECT MMORPG they were playing for so many years to come to SWG.
Dev2: Very true. Well, Let's make the announcement on the boards and post it to the site. I can't wait to see the forums after this(chuckles).

Darkmarksman, your optimism is admirable, however....
For there to be ANY advantage to balancing the two systems at once they would have to be at least remotely similar, which they are not.
Space is TWITCH BASED, ground is TURN BASED, one is based on 'dice rolls' and 'skill mods' while space will be about YOU AND YOUR JOYSTICK.
You cannot compare the two. They are not related combat systems IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER. PERIOD.
Besides....ground combat with its current AKNOWLEDGED MAJOR FLAWS has been EXPLICITY PROSMISED much needed changes for over 6 months. (Some for a year!)
The simple fact is JTL while it may integrate well is a SEPERATE game designed for the sole purpose of getting more money from new and existing subscribers.
The post by TH makes it EXPLICITY CLEAR that they have been devoting the development team WE PAY TO DEVLOP 'SWG: An Empire Devided' on A DIFFERENT PROJECT.
That we should tolerate this is a tesimony to our sad addiction to anything starwars. (Myself included of course)
What about those of us who are ONLY intersted in this ONE GAME and NOT in JTL....?
We have just been told that not only have we been paying for only 50% of a team recently to work on this game,
but alsothat now we will have to sacrifice the other 50% for a while so that a serperate project (JTL) can be completed in time for the holiday buying season.
You should see the 2 threads on this. EVERYONE SHOULD READ AT LEAST SOME OF THEM.
The first one hit 64 pages (over 1500 posts) of complaints and cancellations in record time - they archived it out of sight here:
The second one only got to page 21 this morning when they LOCKED IT (you can no longer speak your mind here either):
(Was that you Jeassa? Was it to help us by focusing attention on some of the few last poignent posts or to stop the bleeding?)
You should all take note of how many posts were edited out of existence (some were honest hearfelt rants, not slanderous junk as far as I could tell)
None of my posts have been deleted yet....but I would not be surprised if this or another one is soon....
Sincerely Saddened,
-JALIA (Career Doc/Pike of BRIA, Soon to walk the long road...)

The really strange thing was when the first behemoth thread was deleted as a whole (original announcement and all) around when it was hitting 18 pages. It did come back about 10 minutes later, but wow was that a bad mistake.
