Thread: Gun do something, now.
As many of you may or may not know, they are adding new Doctor Disease & Poison Resistance Buffs. This is our worst dream, particularly because the devs have done **edit** for us. The increases on these buffs are such that even if you have a 150% potency weapon, it will not stick.
If you are a pikemen, and want to pvp well, you use dots, period. There is no other option. You need to push for some major changes to cone with these new additions or we are done. We need better accuracy, more toughness/defenses, and the removal of mitigation, or a very big increase in our weapons minimum damage.
I would also like to see the addition of a new loot component similar to acklay bones added, so crafters can make us a decent weapon without me having to get a nice size group and go kill nightsisters with the new npc changes, hoping in the 3 hours we spend there I get something useful to pvp with.
You need to push for these changes now, not later or this profession is dead, and so is my account.
Too many people on Flurry at least, run around with 80-90% resist composite I suppose.

This is only my opinion, but I like these changes. I'm a Master Pikeman, Master Doctor.
1. I think it is about time that these doctor skills were added. As it was CM's were game breaking. (If these changes are implemented, doctor is game breaking for cms and pikemen as they are now.) Trying to have a large-scale pvp battle is difficult as it would be over in just a few minutes because someone would toss a 700-1000 tick poison/disease from 90m out. (Range was fixed, and we can hit from about 15) As far as area cures, they are needed. (No, they are not, one skilled doctor can handle a group if lead well, not sure IIA would know.) The resistance buffs are nice, but I think a better way to implement them would have been as a food. One that has a filling of like 40 and lasts for 15 minutes. (The problem isn't the idea; it is the actual level of resistance.) This way CM's can still play a roll, but we could extend the pvp battles.
2. I personally never use dot pikes in pvp. (You aren't much help in pvp then, unless you use yor other profession.) I don't see myself as a class that should head into battle head on trying to take down 1-100 players on my own. (No profession should, but being able to kill one would be nice.) I like to think of myself as crowd control. (No melee class should be 'crowd control’; pikemen should be individual, or two maybe three person control.) I know I'm not the most damaging class in pvp, so I will work to apply states and area sweep to large groups of opponents so that the heavy hitters can do their damage. (Good luck hitting unless you are using a regular lance) I try and play a meat shield. (If you feel like going meat shield with states go tka, they have the same states as us including blind.) I keep the fighters busy while the ranged professions and heavy hitters can inflict the damage. (Anyone smart will avoid you after one in counter; you are worthless on the battlefield, a liability not an asset.) I die occasionally when I fight, but I also help out the team by keeping them safe from the majority of damage. (Like I said you are worthless against a group of smart pvpers.)

you do realize gunman was the one who asked for our dots to be nerfed? (thanks and yes i really mean that!)

- In the changes I suggested to the devs for pre-balace fixes, All of the issues were presented in one document, and the dot nerf was at the bottom of the list, behind all of the fixes we need.
- Innoculations and Area cures have been wanted by docters since I was a doc 2 months after retail...I remember those discussions quite vividly. Thus, they've been on the plate well beeforethe pikee dot craze started.
- Since these additions are going in, added with the weapon switch delay (I hate that one btw) I'll open a new thread next week (gives everyone some time to test) and re-address whether our dot situation is still out of control or fine as is.
If they make these changes before properly thinking it through (like usual) and fixing the professions that currently rely on DOTs to win, we are just going to get even more cookie cutter def stacker tempoiters.
