I'm currently a Master Pikeman/4440 doc/3000 fencer, and it's one of the most formidable builds I've ever had.

I was Master Doc/Master Pike for a while. It was nice being able to buff yourself and stuff, but I was really only using Doc for my own buffs. So I dropped Doc in favor of Ranger. So now I'm Master Pike, Medic 1244, Ranger 0033. That'll give me the ability to find any NPC on whatever planet I'm on...figure it *might* help in the village quests of Pub10. We'll see I guess.

Well iv'e been Doc / Pikeman for a LONG time. Before i began my SWG 'break' i was pretty unbeatable. With a good set of DoTs and some Poison / Disease cures and the odd fire blanket or 2 i was almost untouchable. I haven't played since they introduces the resist packs bug being a master doc means you can use the Fire blankets which is very VERy convinient.
A warning though. you must be quick before that first tick hits you.

I'm a MD / MP and I'm pretty unbeatable in a duel. Of course, the key to success for any pikeman is all in equipment. When fighting non-healers, I use my 600 action poison and 250 action fire and throw in some leg hits. When dealing with ranged professions (that I know have no melee mititagation) I use my 1800 max dmg pike. Also works quite well on Jedi
And for fellow Doctors I spam them with my high potency mind fire.
I'm also capped on speed and accuracy, which is really essential for PvP. So assuming you have the right equipment (including any defense SEAs you can pick up) MD / MP works quite well.
If you aren't really worried about buffing yourself, the best template IMO would be MP / 3040 Doc / Pistol Tech IV. That allows you to cure all states except disease and gives you ranged mitigation II plus a lot of state defenses.

oh...yeah....stun reduces your melee/ranged defense by half. Kinda like Intimidate, which halves CA / Dodge / Block.

If I'm not mistaken, ranged mitigation only works if you're holding a ranged weapon. Perhaps this has changed recently, but that's how it used to work.
I'm a master doc/master pikeman as well, and have been for ages. It certainly has its benefits, but it's a large skill point investment and therefore limits what else you can do. Master pike/master brawler/4030 doc would probably be my choice for a combat build with doc if I didn't care about buffing myself. It still leaves you weak on melee/ranged and state defenses, but you get more toughness and speed, intimidate2, and lunge2.

Like I said in the other thread about templates, I'm pretty sure that mitigation is passive. My character on Radiant is primarily a Fencer with Pistol Tech and I notice that I take a lot less damage from ranged weapons.

It would be nice if ranged mitigation does indeed work with melee weapons equipped, or for that matter if master pike's melee mitigation 3 works with other melee weapons equipped. Time to get out the testing hat.
