Or does living with out any kind of meaningful armor really hurt you?

I ask because, I just found out today that my wookie can not really wear any meaninful kind of armor. As I am hearing folks touting the benifits of armor as the game progresses, I am really begining to wonder if I should roll my race to another that can actually wear it.

Well i'm not really sure but every melee person i have run into this far does not wear armour. Which seems weird... Brawler take most if not al the dmg and most of us where zero armour... All the riflemen grab as much armour as they can wear though. and then want us to take all the dmg HAHAHAHAHAHAHA... I just think like this if the gun people didn't have us brawlers they would be dead. Also IO don't wear armour i wear tuskan outfit, i don't wear the helmet alot though.

I know Brawlers that wear armor. Myself being a Pikeman, I wear Mabari armor. It cuts the melee damage I take (which is pretty much all melee damage) in half. As for Wookies wearing armor, you don't need it. The reason it is equal is that Wookies have "built inarmor." Their stat modifiers are higher than everything elses making everything okay. So, don't change your race and start over...it's not worth it.

Is there a stat to reduce damage taken? Or is it just viirtue of having a larger health buffer?

Does a wookies higher stat-points make their defensive value equal to another race with lower stat-points but can actually wear armor?
