OK here is my take on Pikeman.

PvE: as a Ranger I find there is no better weapon except maybe rifles. The area attacks a Pikeman gets means crowd control. I can stand in a lair and just milk the lair and have things drop all around me. The pikes will never have the damage output of "solo" professions like TKA or Swordsman, but it's good as a group support profession or for controlling crowds.

PvP: if you have just a normal, non-DOT, weapon, you're screwed. The damage output against solo is no where what a TKA gets. Defenses are bad. Speed is really bad. No mind specials. Your bread and butter in PvP will be your Dizzy/KD attacks followed by Hit3. Bottom line: you must keep them intimidated and knocked down or else it's gonna be a really tough fight with you ending up losing.

this changes after the CU but for now...

PvE: i am speed and acc capped and highly recommend it... just as important as being speed capped as a swordsman. doesnt have to be uber just something at 850-950max damage (LVA) should be fine

PvP: vs ranged and jedi pikeman is teh absolute pwn... vs def stackers (especially TK) i stack 3 mindfire's (all above 250) and 3 mindpoison's (all above 270) and wait for them to cry via tells till the CU we dont have a chance vs tka's and swordsmen with a "normal" weapon because our toughness is sooo much lower and theirs is sooo much higher

I have mastered TKA and Fencer. Now I am thinking to try Pikeman.

I once did the brawler polearm tree, tho and I hated it. It seemed slow and I missed all the time. Now people told me once you reach novice pikeman it gets alot better.

I also don't want to start using uber pikes. How does a normal pike do in pvp? Or are they only worth if they got a nice dot pike or something?

-Thx

i duno i found the pike tree in Brawler $hite too, but when i got spin attack 2 it gets better.

About the lances, i duno my pike is nuffing major but it aint crafted, a mere 625 (PuPed) 3.6 AS but saying this i have done all the force speed tree so i think this has helped me alot, if you have done them trees you should do it, both swords and Pikes need more speed, so get saving for them AA/CAs!

I am TKM so Pikeman will be my 2nd profession.

I think this is a good combo with TKM for PvP and Pikeman for PVE.

Or will I do ok in Pvp with pikes due to my TKM defense?

Pikeman isn't an easy profession to be good at... but the good are good. The rest suck and need to try something easier like TKA.

/agree too

I duelled a TKM/stacker the other day (Mpike/TKA0004/Novice Doc here, with FS CP 0022 and master brawler) we just stopped duelling when we got 500+ BF and still full HAMs.

I removed dizzy/blind states, had a hard time to KD him he had a hard time to stuck me on ground, I used only crafted pikes no DoT nothing.

I didn't try it but maybe in mass PvP pikes can make the difference, in 1vs1 it's like carbines, only a few ones are able to use em efficiently (without DoTs) the other ones think that it's cr4p and we just let em think so.

the only issue, like swordsman is to get to the speed cap, it makes the whole difference.
