Thread: sooooo.... what do you guys think on the CU info

well at least they noticed us. we have ass kicking defense and pretty good crownd control. offense sucks but i will live with that. i say mix it with a high damage proffesion and your set for a balanced character. i think im going to like haveing every status effect in the book i think thats what we are getting anyways. what b your thoughts

looks pretty good to me, im just makin my template m brawler/mpike/msword/whatever i should do in medic, untill CU im keeping it 2/2/4/0, other 8 pts in force combat prowess

Some of it sounds interesting... effort is great, but I hate how they're changing the whole freakin combat system. There wasn't a problem with the way combat was played out... just some professions needed some loving. I think the best "balance" out there is to let us heal our mind with stimpacks.

Pike gets turned into a punching bag, medics and doctors can't craft state heals or stim packs in the field, players have to choose to be either combat or support and can not be both, in order to be effective in either PvE or PvP you have to stack combat professions, specials are really no longer special to any profession, TK/Fencer/Swordsman mixes require 3 trees but Pike/Swords requires all 4 trees, pike appears to be getting kinetic only weapons with one having electrical damage (we already have 5 kinetic pikes, 1 electrical and one near impossible to obtain energy lance), and to top it all off we do far less damage than now.


I'm giving the CU 2 weeks after it goes live to see how it all works out. At that point, I'm either going to be a non-combat med center healer, go back to being a musician, or go obliterate my individuality and be a TK/Fencer/Swordsman melee clone.

Pike isnt becoming a punching bag we have powerfull defense and crowd control compared to other proffesions and we have most of the status ailments and stance changes. Also we have a cold damaging weapon (at least i think) and an electric lance. but realy the only other melee weapon getting a bonus damage is the acid sword for fencers everything is kinetic. nothing to look down on realy

This Pike info looks fantastic.

I was a pikeman for just about a year, from Dec 03-Dec 04. I dropped it due to it going from the rarest combat profession to the FOTM because of the DOT weapons.

I remember months and months ago, a poll was taken on what the pike players wanted our role to be, and if I remember right, there was a lot of support for the tanking/crowd control setup. And that's what it looks like Pike will be in the CU, and I look forward to testing it and hopefully picking it back up on live after the CU.

Unfortunately, those of you who haven't been pikemen as long may not think of the profession in the same way; most people do it now because of the high % of good polearm drops. So to those of you, you might find it a "nerf" - but in the realm of the game without the exceptional loots, the adjustments made to pike look great.

Ok, at least you're not just complaining for no reason.

1) how is pike becoming a "punching bag"? - I don't see what you're talking about
2) not all specials will be usable everywhere
3) pike getting all kinetic is pure speculation on your part - EVERYTHING is changing
4) just what the damage output will be remains to be seen
5) the pre-reqs are messed up, very true
6) where did you see that medics can't craft in the field? Maybe I missed that
