Greetings all,

Im a master ranger that has spent the respec looking at various weapons combos to complement and am fairly convinced that the circle ends with the very first weapons skill I ever mastered, pikeman. However Im struck by what seemed to me to be an obvious difference in the accuracy of my attacks between the various ranged professions and the melee ones. That is to say I seemed to be missing a LOT more as melee vs ranged. Granted the to-hit creature mods granted to ranger have always been shown to only apply to ranged, but I didn't feel that should really make that much of a difference.... Am I the only who has gotten this general impression? Im interested in hearing from other people who have done skills in both ranged and melee to compare first hand accounts that might not take into account my ranger bonuses.

Of course you're going to be more accurate with ranged...you have a mod that boosts it. I probably have just as good of a hit/miss ratio as a double elite mastered range profession. That's like grouping rifleman w/ swordsman then using a sword and expecting to have the same hit ratio as someone who is fencer/swordsman.

Im not asking anyone to compare the accuracy of swordsman pikemen to what I have, but I am curious as to say, doctor pikeman, SL pikeman, hell even dancer pikeman. Just because everyone is stacking now doesnt mean we should never look at the viability of the profession as it stands on its own. If I compared just plain old master pikeman to plain old master pistoleer... what would the accuracy difference be? does .35 creature to-hit really make that much difference?
