It probably wouldn't be a species specific weapon. I can't see how Bowcaster are. I know that only wookiees use them often in the EU and such, but its a gun. Whats the difference if I'm a Wookiee or a Trandoshan in using a weapon? You pull the trigger, it shoots. Makes no logical sense.

The Bowcaster isn't some super-heavy weapon really, don't see why it should be impossible for a humanoid species to use it. Looks pretty much like a Crossbow to me...

I'm not too keen on species-specific stuff myself, whether it be for or against my race. Anyone can use a Trandoshan Hunting Rifle, a Trandoshan Suppressor Pistol, or a Trandoshan Hunter's Lance...

Then again, new weapons are always nice, as long as they're not bugged or overpowered

I think that either every species should have their own stuff or no one.

Look... if everyone is allowed to use the bow caster then chewbacca might sue...

The bowcaster has always been Wookiee-specific (and only craftable by Wookiees). It was only given its new incarnations (assault bowcaster, etc) because it was about as useful as a CDEF before.

"Aside from Wookiees, there are only a small number of species capable of accurately controlling a bowcaster, as the weapon requires a great deal of strength to simply c0ck* and fire, and its recoil is enough to level weaker beings."

So it's really a continuity thing.

Personally, I think species-specific weapons are a bad idea (but with something as iconic as a bowcaster I think it's necessary). Non-iconic weapons like the Ryyk blade are thankfully usable by all species.

*(the forum censor doesn't realize that cocking of a weapon is different from male genitalia)

I would just love it if we could see something like this. I think that spattering these racial and class specific weapons and other items would make for an even more amazing game. It would be admittedly hard to swallow, however, if racial specific stuff came in too powerful, I know that I would be pissed if they gave something too good to anyone other than Zabraki. Maybe it would be best to focus ideas like racial specifics to tailored goods, or something else that has little to no combat value.

But, lets do the Zabraki Uber Pikes anyways. And make them available in a single quality only via quick and easy repeatable ingame quest, and of course,uniquely powerful.
