Thread: Single pull with melee?

So far I have mostly been doing group combat (leveling) with my Pikeman/doc. I did some testing how well I could stand against a group so I head out to NS stronghold, lol could not manage a group of 4-5 NS (lvl 78 I think with maybe a lvl 84 sentinel stuck in group) not even by helaign like crazy. Not that surprised though, would have expected that.

But that raise a question, what is the best method to pull a single NPC from a group? I have a nice method to do it with ranged, attack one in group run away/kite (only one target) and after a while the other that aggro will run back to their original spawn location wile the NPC you are attacking will continue to follow you. Of course this does not work very well with melee (I think the other will continue to attack you since you are to close).

One method is to use a pet to pull, but other than that?

Or maybe our power comes from grouping. When you are melee and have a ranged backup and both are knowing what to do it works very well. The other day when doing group grinding and only a pistoleer and I was left in group we managed to kill just as quickly as we did before with 4 more people (but we had to concentrate on combat a lot more and I had to heal us a lot more than before).

Well, I look for the enemy most seperated from the group, and equip a CDEF Rifle (or any Rifle you can use) and take a shot at Maximum range.

Wait for the "!" sign to come up, and watch for "?" and "!" signs from other nearby mobs. As soon as the "!" sign appears over the mob you want to pull, start kiting. If other mobs have the "?" sign, start to move away, or they'll aggro.

Seems to work OK for me, I drag them 100 - 150m away from other mobs, then lay the smack down

Should other mobs actually aggro, either run, try and tank it out, or do a KD/Snare + Run/Burstrun. You should put enough distance between you for them to back off.

Yes equipping a rifle would work. Think you have ranged shot even if not even have marksman. Could use an adv laser rifle since it only use CL

You can also watch closely when you are at the 25m range, and keep attention on the questionmarks that rise above their heads. If you see more than 1 questionmark, step back quickly, and try again. You a short amount of time to reconsider your action

I carry a pistol and do a single shot. Always make sure you are on the furthest one from the center of the group and lined up so you are on a straight line to the center of the goup of other possible targest. Like
YOU--- Target-------- Target group. Works great.

Just remember, where you are, is, where you are. ;-)

Yes I used that yesterday when I was in Myydril (sp?) cave. It works when the creatures are not to close to each other. I managed to single pull quite well.

What I did was getting into their aggro range and let one creature notice me and aggro then run away and not starting to attack until I was far enough fromt he other creatures.

It might have to do some with new aggro range changes. Those were lvl 76 so ihey might be easier to single pull this way than higher level creatures.

use a melee combat droid (R3 or LE Repair droid)

They ALWAYS only pull one.....

Using /tellpet macros you can also avoid spatial spamming...
