Pikeman Archive

So I was watching the Matrix Reloaded today, and you know the part where Neo is fighting the horde of Agent Smith's? What does he do when there gets to be too many of them for him to handle bare-fisted? He picks up a staff...yep, he starts wiping them out with a polearm.

I saw him do a couple sweep2's and a load of sweet moves. I love situations like that in-game, when abatch of enemies are grouped together, and you jump in the middle, area2+sweep2 - aah, such joy. We really need an area bleed and some move where we knock the opponent away from us.

I love playing pikeman despite the issues we have.

LOL, I agree! Once, not so long ago, I was at the tusken fort in one of the buildings near the main entrance. I was grouped with two other high-level pikemen and we took on 6 tuskens at the same time. It was a beautiful thing to see us all performing our area attacks and area sweeps, guarding and defending each other! You don't see many other pikeman now.

well, though we dont often get many pikeman working togeather, when we gt some decent aid from a carbine we can do quite well too.

my real complaint is that we're "pike"men yet we have lances (wheres my horse) and an axe on a stick. Ok sure the vibro axe is a polearm and cool, but how bout some pikes, or some of the other cool polearms, glaives, halberds etc. the idea of a pole arm is to have range with a melee weapon. Im sorry but a lance that is sorter than any of the 2 handed swords i have seen is really quite pathetic.

It is very true that fighting a large group with another pikeman/woman is really a sight to see: all the great moves and the sounds and, like ranxero said, bodies flying everywhere (even better when they're not ours). I love it when I get into a fight where I and my target(s) are actually blocking each other, it's great to watch - I'm looking forward to having a lot more +block.

Another thing I wish we did was spin our polearms around more, I mean, isn't that the first thing you do when you pick up a staff? You spin it in your hands!

Yeah a move liek neo does when he spirals on the pole would be cool too, hehe even if it was only for a second (not for like a min) Also we should definatly have more spin moves, seems like most of our moves are jabs or wide swings, makes us look more like a huge Swordsman instead of a pike.

Whenever I am grouped with another Pikeman (very rare), or even any melee char, we seem to do amazing things when surrounded. Bodies flyin, people bleeding, perhaps this is what was intended form the start. Anytime you see pikemen in a movie, they are always shoulder to shoulder against a common foe. Sadly, this happens all to rarely, and the instances of pikeman together are few and far between.

heh.. the only time that actually works is with a group up nunas or meatlumps. hehe.. but it there is quite a bit of satisfaction of watching 8 Valarian Thugs all fall down around you dead at the same time.
