I started a week after launch, and Pikeman was my first Chosen Mastered profession. At the time Pikemen were a joke and it seemed that we were horibly ignored by the dev team. We couldn't take anyone in PVP and people actually snickered and made jokes when they looked at my title.
But that didn't bother me. I wore my 'Master Pikeman' profession tag with pride, because there were hardly any of us back then, in fact, I was the only one that I knew of at that time on my server.
Anyway, with the advent of the holo-grind I was left with no choice but to relinquish the profession that I was proud to have stuck with through to mastery dispite the naysayers. I got to sample many of the other professions that were far superior than the profession that I was used to, the only one that seemed as neglected as Pikeman was Carbineer.
With that said, 15 professions later, I've decided that I can grind no more, it threatens to take all the fun out of the game for me once and for all if I continue.
Funny thing was, as soon as I came to this decision I immediately felt lost. What do I do know for my endgame template? I always said I would come back to Pike after the grind was done, but now I don't know. I mean, I miss my unique Identity, but I am now knowledgeable in the fact that there are much more effective professions out there. Besides, with the advent of all the Holo-Pikemen, the class isn't so rare anymore, even though it's true that many of the ones you see only view the profession as a means to an end.
Well, with my ranting done, what do you think, should the prodigal son return?

We're still borked, just not AS borked as before. However, wasting away TKM's is much easier now that our +Block+ actually works. If you haven't noticed, we still don't get damage mitigation....

Block has always "worked." It was a typo in the combat log that was fixed. The accuracy improvements have helped a lot. We're capable in everything, but best at nothing. PvE is good, PvP is good only with DoT polearms.
