Thread: How many of you true pikeman despise dots.

As pikeman was my first profession in this game, i loved this profession and hated what dots do to it by making it as a fotm dot whore.

No i don't hate them , they come in very handy in PvE. If mitigation and 80% comp didn't meanyou hit people for around 50 points in PvP then DOTs wouldn't be such an issue i feel.

They may be useful, but I just hate resorting to them. A pikeman can truelly prove his worth in PvP if he's awesome without using those. (which so far, I have miserably failed to achieve 
)

I love and hate them. I can do just fine without them, it just takes so much time to actually hurt an opponent(with melee mit. 3)in PvP.

i used to hate dots, until i got my 302second 644 action poison, i dont like dots being used in duels though, but overt i think you do what you can to survive.

i truly despise DOTS, for pikeman, but i couldnt beat them so i joined them............... but not all the way........keepin' it real with action poison/fire

I will not use them in PvP. I will not use them at the DWB. I will not use them Geo Cave, even though they may be current the rage. I do not like DOTs here or there and will not use them anywhere!

It definitely adds to the 'mystique' of the Pikeman profession doesnt it? The fact that no weaponsmith can make us a decent weapon -- they have to be looted.
And that we have DOT's but I see alot of other DOT weapon's out there, rifles and pistols and other weapons so I dont see Polearms being that unique. I definitely think that no DOT weapons should work for you unless you are a Master Pikeman, or at least be dramactically reduced in chance to land it and also strength. That would stop people from just picking up a pike cert just so they could use DOT weapons.
Does anyone feel that the DOT's help make the profession more equal with swords and TKM?

you cant really hate dots!
I had duel going when I was master fencer/swordsman/brawler and 0304(TK)vs a master fencer/tk/brawlerand 3240(medic)!!
it lasted for 1 hour and 31 minutes! then his buffs dropped! and I won(of course)!
The only thing dots do is to shorten down or duel or for that sake Overt fighting!

remove dots, make lva's craftable to abou 800-900 unsliced. if not, we NEED them as much as we dont want them

well i can see where you are comming from, regarding your opinions on using DOT's, but since we all have to play within the confines of the game, you have to try and use every means at your disposal.
If there were no DOT's, and you couldnt craft a decent pike, then you would have to rely on loot ones, which would probably be extremely rare as they are now, so that means it would cost you a small fortune....which of course you would have had to earn being a master of another elite profession. And no one would be a pikeman because it wouldnt really make sense...sort of like being a squad leader or a Ranger (which i enjoyed)...
