Howdy all. I'm a relatively new master pikeman, and I'd love some advice on how to get the most out of it. I feel as if I'm not dealing out very much damage, esp. when compared with guildmates in other professions (TKM, fencer).

Is the answer good looted pikes? Switching between weapons? For example, I've got a mind poison lance that does relatively low damage. Should I start with it and then switch to a higher damage weapon like my LVA or VL?

Sorry for the basics!

Not doing much damage in PVE or PVP?

In PVE examine your target and look at the resists, use an LVA or VL appropriately.

In PVP with the current armor stats and defense stacking nobody does alot of damage.

Why it may seem you are doing less damage, you really are not. The reason you seem to be doing less damage is that TKM and Fencer are speedcapped at Master. Get speed capped and keep your target stunned and you should see improvments.

If you dizzy and knock-down your target, make sure you don't try to beat on them with Hit-3 as it has the effect of standing your opponent up. I use Hit-2 instead.

Took me a while to realize this.

Ahh -- that's very good advice. I know sweep is the knock-down. Many thanks! I always forget that -- it's so counter-intuitive.

A couple of follow-ups:

Which attack is dizzy -- I have a cheat sheet somewhere, but can't find it. Can it be spammed, or does it also have a reversing effect?

Also, is the way to get more speed togo up some more of the brawlertree? Being MCH takes up a lot of skill points.

Master Brawler adds a bit more speed but your best bet is FS melee speed or CA's

Area 2 is your best attack for dizzy/stun
