So I'm wondering, what all should I know about Pikeman?
I'd prefer to NOT rely on DoT's and the like unless I really, really, have to, because quite frankly, I despise those massive DOT weapons.
One of the things I like from what I've seen, all the diffrent hit animations for the specials just plain look awsome. On the flip side, I've also heard unless you rely almost completely on DoTs, you'll always suck immensely. And again, I'm quite against DOT's.
So what should I know about grinding it out, advantages, disadvantages, things I should watch out for.... prolly gonna have my char on TC, BTW. Possibly somewhere else though.

I am by no means and expert. And There will be lots who will probably Disagree. But For pvp its hard to avoid the Dot issue unless you are fighting a Jedi and havea 1k dmg pike. 
in PVE it's much easier. So until something is done to bring pikeman into line with some of the other melee classes in PVP it can be hard to compete in pvp without them. Although it can be done but it is much harder then say TKM or Fencer.. IMHO..

if it's gonna be on TC, I'm going to assume that you are going for PvE. I have a pikeman on TC, and the main problem is the HAM costs of pike are SO high. I have Novice medic and some nice Bs, and I have to heal every 3 or 4 specials....
on the up side, you really don't have to rely on DOTs for PvE. Unless you are helping to fight an elder or something, you will almost never use your DOTs. And of course the animations are among the best in the game.
I'd say give it a try, it's a blast...

pikeman is great, the animations, oooh, the animations, i like using area dizzy, stun , then throwing the area KD, and watching them flop. . . . But having a DOT and using it area is awesome. . . . .i think you will like it if you get capped................
