I thought that any weapon did extra damage while the opponent was knocked down...

Leg hit (all of them) damage the action pool. They have no status effects or any other gadgets. If someone tells you diffrently, hit them with a blunt object (polearms work well here). But yes, if you do any leg hit while someone is on the ground, it will do more damage, like everything else. I forget what the damage modifier is to someone knocked down, and I'm too lazy to look it up. Spin attack? Well, spin attack one is just another kooky area attack we pikemen get (good for leveling), and the 2nd applies a dizzy. Compared to area 2 though, they're both pretty well useless.

what i do, i use action fire and poison, and bleeds, use area 2 to apply stun, dizzy and ur DOTS, then knock them down, switch to damage pike and apply bleeds, then , leghit them, its the only way as pikeman only,
of course u can mind fire, mind poison, and then KD and do hit 2 over and hope to incap on their mind. . . .

Well, it's all about the HAM distribution. It's more efficient to target one pool, especially when you consider that using hit3 against a KD'd target will pop them right back up.
The rough distribution for a non-pool targeted attack is 50% to health, 33% to action, and 17% to mind.
If we take a master pikeman with +75 speed and an imaginary 4.5 speed weapon that always hits for 100 points of damage we get DPS like this:
hit1: 220 (110 health/73 action/37 mind)
hit2: 206 (103 health/68 action/35 mind)
hit3: 220 (110 health/73 action/37 mind)
Assuming a target with 1000 for all 3 HAM bars, they'll die from depleted health in 9.1 seconds for hit1 and hit3 (though you can't use hit3) or 9.7 seconds for hit2.
Now for leghits we get the following DPS, all hitting the action pool:
leghit1: 165
leghit2: 165
leghit3: 137
Using the same target with 1000 action, leghit1 and 2 will kill it in 6.1 seconds and leghit3 in 7.3 seconds.
If speedcapped leghit3 takes on the exact same DPS as hit2, and since it's all going into action will be twice as effective at knocking down the bar.
Where it gets messy is that all our state, area, and posture change effects are only going to hit health 50% of the time, so it's entirely possible health will already be low enough that it makes more sense to use high-dps untargeted attacks.
This post brought to you by the committee for needlessly complex answers to simple questions.

I have heard several things... 1 is that when down if you hit legs it does more dmg?? And I have ehard they stay down longer and or keep dizzy on longer,, for me I have not noticed either of these... whats the scoop or point of leg hit!!?? Thanks for your time.. also does spin attack do anything? I use spin alot and to me all I see is ok dmg and nothing else.. sure looks cool though..
