Ok currently i'm a TKM/BH. I've had pretty good success with this but i'm getting bored of it atm and was thinking of switching over to Master pikes/BH. I do however have a few questions.
1) Do you guys speedcap at master or will i need to invest some points in attachments or FS melee speed?
2) What the heck is a LVA? I keep reading about them on this forum when i was browsing but i havn't found a single reference as to what it stands for hehe
3) And finally how satisfied are you guys with your profession? By that i mean do you have any complaints about broken specials or anything wrong with your profession. I've been so far Pistols, Carbines, and TKM and so far tkm is the only one i've played that really satisfied me. I am looking for a change however and just wondering overall are you people as players satisfied with how your profession is set up.
Thanks in advance!

1. You will need attachments, getting FS melee speeds lessens the amount of attachments needed.
2. Long Vibro Axe - Does kinetic damage, the best ones are looted.
3. I am a Master Pike/Doc and love it. Without attachments or FS a pikeman can be pretty slow, in my opinion, pikeman needs some love from SOE. To get our most rare weapon you need to kill somthing that has 100% protection against our only two types of damage, kinetic or electricity and hopefully loot the schematic.

To speed cap you will need to have 95 polearm speed, you get 75 at master pikeman, 80 with master brawler.
That leaves you with either 20 or 15 more needed, FS melee speed helps with 12
This is to be speed capped with even a 6.5 speed weapon

I'll just respond to this as the first two have fine answers already.
I'm very satisfied with pikeman in the sense that I enjoy playing the profession a great deal. Having said that, it does have its share of drawbacks. In PvP we're pretty useless without good looted weapons and/or DoTs, crafted pikes are pointless. The LVA has horrible accuracy, but is really our best weapon. We have poor defenses around the board, and the lowest toughness of any melee profession. Melee mitigation destroys our damage ability in PvP (not an issue if you're mostly a jedi hunter though).
On the positive side, we have one of the most effective KDs in the game (and it's an area KD to boot) and we can area dizzy and stun with one attack. A pikeman in the middle of a group of NPCs can knock them all down and dizzy them in two hits. We don't truly have any broken specials, though we do have a few redundant or just plain pointless specials. Those looted weapons that we unfortunately rely on are relatively easy to come by. We're also the sexiest of any of the melee professions, everyone else wishes they could look as good as we do
If you're bored with TKM, you might as well give pikeman a shot. I can't promise you'll be a better BH for it, but you'll probably have more fun doing it.

i find that in group PvP, or just u about to get ganked, iuse your fire weapons, and as they start to attack just put down 3-4 area 2's, then hit them with sweep 2, sometimes the results could turn out to be more than you expected, unless they are defense stackers, then u might have to try 10-20 times to KD them.........

You've gotten all of your questions answered here, let me just add this one thought....I am master pikeman and absolutely love it! It's fun to play as a pikeman, and that means a lot to me. Now having said that, while leveling up to master level it was sometimes discouraging b/c I was slow, and I took more damage than other melee profs. I say, get your pike, be patient and know that there is light at the end of the tunnel....and we are simply the best looking fighters out there

all your question are answered in prevoous posts. but one other good thing about the pikeman prof. yes we take more damage, but other things make u pfor it. for example i was in a duel with my m8 tonight, a tkm/mfencer/medic combo. and i was testing out my new dots... lets just say he had literally every state on him, that included disease, fire, posion aswell. because of this he was constantly healing himself as the posion/fire/disease was hurting him, and i was swining away with polearmhit3... he didnt really have a chance to even hit me mainly as he was in such a state trying to stay alive.
ps if you really wanna see some pretty animations, buy a night sister enerygy lance, and speed capp with it (speed capped at 3.0 speed for me, with 90 speed generally) and then polearmhit3... its so pretty, it looks so nice

actualy, i would answer the question about speed slightly diffrent. If you want to be "über" yes you need tapes/fs speed. If you can satisfy with "very very good but limited in some ways" you dont need it. This is because the special weapon status of pikeman. A good swordsman = always speed caped. As a pikeman with all the good weapons beeing looted, you can simply choose to buy only "fast" pikes. Thats how i did it a long time ago, spent the bif money on good pikes with low speed high dmg and dots and dident bother with the tapes until i saw i really wanted the profession for keeps.
ie both my 1k+ dmg pikes are 3.2 and 3.9 in speed, and thats very much sufficent to hit the speed cap without tapes. And mostly my good dot pikes are below the 5.0 speed mark so they would be "ok" not at speed cap butpretty close.
My advice toyou would be to get pikes first and not ruch in to buying tapes until you know how you like it.

Pikeman rules. I am working on a Pikeman/BH/Carbineer template right now. I pretty much absolutely refuse to drop master pikeman so I might have some problems with this. Mabye I'll just drop the gun monkey stuff and just hunt jedi with my big sticks.... Hmmmmmmm Anyway, you cant go wrong with pikeman. I never had any desire to do a melee profession but now I find that I cant get away from this one
