I have been working on my master polearm skill tree and recently upgraded my reinforced combat staff to a basic lance (finally!!). so i take my new shiny weapon out only to find that i'm consistantly hitting for about 30-40 damage per hit. i continue to beat on this creature until i finally win and notice something odd, i received unarmed combat exp for it. i double checked to make sure it was, in fact,equipped (even i could see the graphic anyway). so i definitely /bugged it. i thought basic lance certification falling under the polearm skill tree meant that when using a lance, we gained polearm exp.? am i wrong? also, i could use none of the polearm special moves.....

anyone else experience this?

Sounds like you didn't have the weapon equipped.

I think this because:

a. you got unarmed combat exp

b. you couldn't use any of your special moves, which if you try to use a polearm move without a polearm in your hand, you will get an error saying you can't do this move with the current weapon in your hands (which is probably nothing in your hands when you tried)

c. you were hitting 30-40 damage, which to me, seems to be about what the basic fighting unarmed guy does

ok, logged out and in and unequipped and reequipped...that did the trick....i'm posisitive that it at least showed equipped before

It is a bug. I bought a lance last night, and I "equipped" it, but when I went to fight, I was only doing 40-50 damage with it. After the fight, I got unarmed combat xp. During the fight, none of my polearm specials worked. And I could equip another weapon at the same time. It wouldn't let me unequip the lance either, so my inventory showed two weapons equipped. Basically, it showed that I was using a lance, but in reality I was using my hands (or my other weapon if I equipped that). I logged out and back in, and my lance that I just bought was gone. My hard earned money was wasted, I thought. I logged out and logged back in a half hour later and my lance was back in my inventory. I tried it out, and it worked correctly. Whew!

Must have been a random glitch. I bought a Lance yesterday and it worked just fine.
