Thread: Weapon speed start AFTER style animation?

I really notice this on Polearm2, the one where you turn your back and do nifty pokes side to side. It is a pretty long little animation and after it finishes I stand there looking mean but not doing much else. I am beginning to wonder if my weapons speed only starts to count after that animation ends. If I use no styles my 4.4 speed weapon seems to go quite a bit faster though still quite slow

Anyone else notice this or am I crazy?

I noticed this also. Like I will do polearmhit2 and do the animation and hit for my amount, then as I'm starting to step back if I have another polearmhit2 queued up I will deliver a hit as I am finishing my animation for my first polearmhit2. Then my guy just stands there waiting for the next command. They should at least speed up the animation or something for speed you are at.

using special moves adds on to the time delay

Just got the area attack at the top of the Offense tree. Another long, drawn out style, damage seems pretty good though.

Almost all my styles cause me to take longer before the next attack. Thats with every weapon I have. Leghit doesn't seem to slow me down tho.

It doesn't have anything to do with the animation. I can spam polearmhit2 faster than the animation can keep up and the damage still pops up regularly in my combat window.

Different special moves have a different speed penalty associated with them. Polearmsweep1 and Polearmlunge1 have longer penalties than polearmhit2 orleghit2because they change the posture of an enemy. Area attacks all have longer speed penalties as well. Normal attacks are faster than any special move. This is one of the reasons why berserk is the best way to deal damage. The only drawback is that you can't perform special moves like sweep while berserking.

The only thing I have noticed relating to combat animations is that you can't move (run around) until you're finished going through them. This is espcially noticable with polearmhit2 at the end of a fight. You finish off the mob, but have to stand there until your character is done going through the motions.
