Ok so I was practicing some pvp with buddies of mine today. I wanted to see if I could get some licks in now even though I was getting kited... ok so I am chasing him and I am Out of range practically the whole 1 min 30 second fight. I was literally manually getting very close and was still out of range. I got 2 melee hits in the whole fight. Only because he had to pause for a second. Is there something I am doing wrong? Is there a secret to fighting a opponent who always runs? This Out of range thing is driving me crazy since I have to be at the perfect distance from a opponent to lay in even one single hit.

plus even if I use polearm lunge with my 3.5 speed LVA, he is still up and running before the next swing, and you wasted your kd, which could of been sweep instead... Polearm lunge defintely isnt the answer.

i was thinking the same thing today. i will probably have to go into a ranged weapon line and get a dizzy state attack. then if i got within range to use a posture change like lunge or if i was able to use a KD ability they would have a greater chance to stay down longer so i could deal more damage to them.

i could also use suppression fire to slow the dizzy effected target down and hope they fall.

if you are unable to get ranged weapon skills then your options are a bit more limited. group with people who can add in these effects and abilities to slow down your target. get some pets to confuse your target enough to perhaps not see you coming or getting too close. fight indoors a lot or in small areas.

and finally , pray .... pray a lot that when you do get within range of a target that you actually hit.

I noticed that out of range business last night as well. I was chasing a rebel player across the plains and was running right on top of him. Cowev (my character) was definatly swinging, but the combat tba kept reporting target out of range.

I only recently got into PvP so I don't know if its a new problem. I know it doesn't apply to mobs though, as I've killed on the run with my pike many times. Betcha, its the anti-kiting code built into critters that allows us to hit them back, seeing as how they are magically in melee range all the time. The same code doesn't apply to players so it sounds like a bug.

Polearm lunge is practically useless now. Though it has an extended range with the kd timer once you use it that is it... you do very little damage and they kneel or fall down (if you have lunge 2) for like 2 seconds get up and kite you again. Lunge just isn't worth it anymore now that they put in the kd timer.
