Problem

1) People Spamming KD in PvP.

2) Melee completely ineffective against Ranged unless the ranged is immobile. We have no way in keeping em within around except for posture changes and KD which have been nerfed out of existence.

3) Pikeman have no way of controlling (attempting to) damage in higher end PvE encounters (i.e. very little in arsenal in the way of defense now that KD is gone).

Solution

1) Remove KD from the ranged aresenal of specialsor keep it at 30 seconds for them. KD pointless for Ranged. They can just kite us as we have no /stick command (/follow by design doesnt work in PvP unless your opponent is mentally challenged). The Panic shot of Smugglers makes more sense in place of KD ranged. This whole issue arose from people getting spanked by Bounty Hunters in the first place.

2) Give back the KD to melee with the following modifications.

2a) Increase the base defense of players' resistance to KD. Say 30-50% success in KD ands keep it independant of damage delivered. Skill defense bonuses are in place for some proffs (a good thing that should stay the same).

2c) Lower the damage delivered by KD. Perhaps keep it on the order of the weapon damage, remove the + modifier (or make it a - modifier, damage of 1 is too low and is unfair). Else just make it impossible to use two successive KDs in a row. This would allow for a KD'd ranged played to stand up and start the kiting all over again. Although this mayconflict with solution 3 below.

3)Do not change base defensefor Mobs, I had a hard enough time landing successful KDs against higher end mobs (as it should be). Anyway, almost 95% of us here agree that the KD is necessary in PvE.

In my opinion these are not unreasonable solutions. They will ungimp us but they will not make us omnipotent either. In effect, we can go back to being Pikeman, which is what alot of us liked in the first place
