I would highly recommend our FAQ, it is very helpful.

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=pikeman&message.id=9873

It sounds like your LVA is good, but without knowing accuracy, HAM costs, or speed it is difficult to tell, these being some of ourmajor problems, as I am sure you have gathered from the forums.

Yes, you can use powerups, which melee varity you choose depands largely on your stats and race. I am Zabrak and find willpower to be little problem, although I'm sure my human counterparts may have manysuggestions. I use master artisan made mindcost, attackspeed, max damage powerups, although I know these can be hard to find. Having good access to doctor buffs I focus mainly on max damage and mind cost, but whateveryou percieve your weakest area should be your focus.

Personally, I shy away from armor as I use heals quite a lotv(also master doc), and don't like the mind encumberance, but many here on the forums and in the FAQ can recommend excellent armor choices.I use an MK3 personal shield generator and doctor buffs, healing whatever wounds I get (which are generally a lot).

One problem I have seen from guildmates grinding pike with master CH is that the pets do the majority of the damage and the would-be master pikeman looses quite alot of potential xp. The only solution I know of to this is to try and solo, having told the pets to stay, and keeping the pets as a reserve attack in case of danger. My only suggestions, as a non-CH, would be to keep the pets in reserve, get a good sliced weapon, find some powerups, stat-boosting foods, buffs,or drugs, and hit pikets (Dantooine) or tortons (Talus) for all you can. You may, with the advice of other master pike/CH's find better tactics.

i've always found that if you can get at least two pets, grauls lets say, for their decent kinetic damage, and meatshield-like girth are good to have. I've noticed on some creatures that when you are within 8m, and /attack, they notice you, but since you aren't swinging, they take no notice. Inch up, half a meter at a time until you can just barely start hitting the beast. Even though you are hitting them for good damage (i'm a pikeman 4-2-3-3, so my damage is averaged around 800 a hit, with a speed of 4), they won't hit you back, and focus on the grauls.

Using this tip, I actually schooled an untrained dark side user earlier this morning. I could go through at leats 4 before I had to rotate my Mauler selection before the big patch, but now that is pretty good. Just make sure that you and your pets are standing close by each other, as in, all on one side. I have no clue if it works for others or not, but I managed to take down things that otherwise, I wouldn't have.

The stackable bleeds really didn't help the dark side user any.

Actually... Get armor with good kin and good energy and such too... sure, what you are attacking will hit you back with kinetic... but if there is say... 90 jawas agroing you for attacking their pet rock beetle, they will hit you with range. A better example would be hunting Blood Razors on Lok, but mine sounds cooler ;p Skill tapes are a must if you are keeping the profession. Block, counterattack, speed, damage, accuracy... as much as you can. Do not waste time with +1 mods, may the little bit extra and get the +4 +5 and higher.

A note on tapes... they only work in multiples of 5. So you will need a total of +5 whatever for it to work. Also, like tapes do not stack on the same article. This means you can not place 2 +3 tapes on your shirt. For a PVP armor setup, I suggest full compoite with kin + heat, or Kin + Energy layers, a BE shirt melee def, and def vs stun (socketed), and a socketed BE Ammo brandolier... or any of the sash style clothings. It would also be great to get a NS lance with some great mods... I have one with block 25 and intimidate 15.

If you are a holo grinder, it does not matter, you will be dropping it anyways.
