man this sucks, i hate dropping pikeman, i loved it. but to do commando and holo-skills at the same tame it must be done :{ :{ :

If you can help it at all keep the defenses branch just for the defense mods.

indeed he's right dont drop all of pikeman to become commando, keep what you can to have when commando is done

i dropped pike myself also. I did it for the same reason as before. I barely mastered TKA before I started on pikeman and I actually have found that TKA is enough for me so I'll just use that for my combat. I'm going to master marksman and try out commando (it's the profession I ORGINALLY wanted to do when I got the game 1 week after launch) and we'll see how that goes.
All in all this is leading up to my first "holo-grind" to master BH.
