Thread: Please help a noob Pikeman

I have been playing since last June, but have been a Pikeman for about 3 hours. I can almost get a skill, so which tree should I go up first. I think maybe the speed tree. If I do the area attack stuff, which is better? They kind of look the same to me. Thanks for any help guys!

We really need a sticky for this. No fault of yours brother, but this is a daily question.
Anyways, ....
Defense 1 for sweep.
Then do Stances all the way to master for the speed and spinattack 2.
Then go back to Defenses and master that.
Finish with Offense. Get Support as you get the needed combat xp.

Is Sweep the best Pikeman move to use while I go up the other trees?

sweep is handy for the extra dmg while they are on their back, but the best move imho is hit2 until u get master. The targetted action hits are not strong enough to kill that fast.
Also something alot of people mention. Use a vibro lance until u get 2 in support. With the added accuracy, then switch to the LVA forthe extra dmg.
Probably also until u get to stances 4, i would recommend a speed slice....pikeman are not known for their accuracy, and it would probably be better to get a few slightly weaker attacks in, rather than waiting for 20 secs between hits.
