Hello, new to the profession and was looking for some advice on playing and leveling a Pikeman. I am giving up Master Commando for it and I am having fun so far I am 0-0-2-3 so far.I am just woundering what is a good templat to go along with Pikeman andwhat trees to go up first in the Pikeman profession.

I like the profession alot but the only problem with it as I can see is NPC's kiting me... that would be a problem with all melee professions, I am a Master Smuggler as well so I can use a blaster if I need to. But for those of you who dont have blaster skills how do you get around that?

Also I do have a bit of cash but I dont want to spend it all on pikes what or where should I got to get them (loot), Nightsisters?

Thanks for any info you are willing to give up, I am going to read through the forums and see what I can dig up in the mean time.

Yes Nightsisters , Nightsisters , Nightsisters. And more Nightsisters. And maybe a few NIghtsisters. Good For DOT weapons...Rangers , Stalkers , Spellweavers , Protectors. HIgh damage stuff , Spellweavers and Protectors. Don't forget to use intimidate aLOT.

As for kiting NPCs (not a problem with NS until they are nearly dead) try target then /follow and /polearmlunge1 to halt whatever it is. Lunge doesn't always work but as long as you are on /follow you can keep whacking the thing. However seeing as my master smuggler buddy has LowBlowed (or NadShot as he calls it) everything from Krayts to Dark Jedi Masters to Axkva Min you may want to stick with that.

As for templates...personal choice really , some people like other brawler skills, some ranged ,some medical.

Lastly , glad you're having fun with pikes , stick with it , master is great.

Templatewise, I would recommend one melee (Pikeman obviously) and one ranged. I am pikeman/carbineer and I enjoy it, but all the ranged professions are good. Having one ranged and one melee profession is pretty solid because you are able to handle most situations solo, as far as PvE goes. If your fighting melee NPC's use pikeman, if your fighting faction or ranged NPC's use your ranged skills. Same goes for PvP. If you are looking for more of a pvp template there are certain professions that are better than others, same goes for PvE.For pve only, 2 melee professions would be nice, with master brawler. But with a ranged/melee template you have alot of sp to dabble in other combat profs, or pick up a considerable amount of medic and/or scout.

You might want to lvl your toon to 4xx2 pikeman before you tackle nightsisters. Before 4xx2 you will be slow and inaccurate and nightsisters might be a challenge.
