Armor. As of right now I am almost a Master PIkeman using Comp bracers, legs, bicep, and a chittin chest plate for armor.

Stats are

1100 Health/1000 Action/700 Mind

Now, I see alot of people in the armor posts say they wear none, or minimal depending on situation. So let's look at pure PvE for right now. I was under the impression that if you tried taking on something that is, lets say yellow or red to you as a pikeman, with NO armor on, you would get ripped a new one because well, you have no protection. Is this really true? I found that once I bought my comp I stopped dying so quickly or at all in most cases. Maybe if someone could just clairfy how much armor actually helps and if I really need it, it would help me out cause I'm confused, plus I'm a liazrd man too so i cant wear gloves and boots.

Anyone? Overall what is the BEST armor to have on in PvE if any at all?

Please don't turn this into a thread about what % of resits are on YOUR armor and what server and such your on and bla bla bla, that seems to be what happpened in many other posts and the poster ended up never really getting an answer.

Well my new helmet is 44% stun and 82% base ......

Wear armour definately. As a TKM you can get away without armour on account of the high toughnessor same with rifleman when you have a couple of melee players tanking a krayt or something. I just wear the 4 pieces (helm, gloves, boots and chestplate.) and theres as little incumbrence as possible, my pve helmet is incumbrence sliced and the rest is effectiveness sliced. Pikeman has very low toughness so unless Im fighting something like a flit or perleks i always wear the 4 pieces of armour

Ah forgot the last part of your question, definately use good sliced composite, get a few sets of 70% base stuff and get it sliced, or a pre sliced set (you really only need 4 piece suits) if you cant afford that get some good ubese armour.

Why do you recommend a 4 piece suit when the dude specifically said he was a lizard?

I am a lizard and i wear comp helm, chest, bracers, and pants. The pants i only wear against high level mobs or sometimes i will wear ubese pants.

its the new trendy thing to just wear 4 pieces. Frankly from my armor expirences my pants decay just as fast as my boots and my gloves decay just as fast and my arm pieces. If I were to recommend a 4 piece suit I would say helm, boots, pants and chest (no boots for lizards obviously).

For PvE I would say get a suit of 80% kinetic comp and get it sliced. Encumb is usually better but its not a big deal. But I wouldnt recommend using no armor as a pikemen. Ubese or padded would work as well.

When i started playing the game i chose Wookie..and at the time there was NO armor for us...and i leveled ranger and pikeman, and fencer without it....let me say that it made a HUGE difference... I was reading numerous arguments for not using armor/using it...blah blah blah... The best test is to go out and fight something tough...without armor...and then put it on and go back in there....

Judge for yourself...my scale I used was that i didnt have to panic as my HAM bar went to zero...

Whether or not you should wear armor depends a lot on your medic skills. Obviously a master doctor will be better equipped to do it than someone with no medic at all.

I also fought without armor for a long time (being a Wookiee), and with good buffs and my own doctor skills I could do quite well. Even now, I'll often fight mid-level stuff unarmored just to save myself the decay. In general, I think most people wear more armor than they actually need to, but since it has few drawbacks there's not much reason they shouldn't.

Once you start going after anything with more than about 20k ham though, armor is a huge help. I'll fight Jantas unarmored with no worries, but fighting a Kimogila or Protector is close to suicidal without armor. It's possible to fight high-level stuff without armor if you have the med skills to back yourself up, but it's generally not worth the risk.

a few weeks ago i went on a two day run into the geo lab. on the second day while working down past the merc room, i couldnt for the life of me figure out why my health bar was plumeting so fast and the cm with us had to constant stim me while going down. after a brief break and rest period i opened my inventory and looked at my armor. my biceps and bracers were down to zero condition... i put on my back up pieces and had no health plumets during that run in the lab

i am smuggler, fear my cork guns
episode II: i am no longer smuggler i no longer fear the cork guns or the delay on the delay for the revamp.. leave a message after the beep when revamp comes and then i shall return. but then maybe i will show them and do a delay on my return.. ha!!! take that soe (if they have not frustrated me more then i already am)

Well I know for any race that can wear full armor you only need chest, boots, helmet, and gloves. The reason people do this isn't cause it looks kool it's because if you don't wear bracers or arm pads it doesn't factor those into the equation of yoru damage. This maybe be different from trandoshens though because they can't wear gloves and boots.

stun comp or kenetic comp....depending on what you are fighting and if they do stun or kenetic dmg. ithink those the best to wear. even if u cant wear gloves or boots.

Notice the bold red text.... I have only one thing I can say to you:

Buffs.

Good buffs and composite armor (even as low as 70%) will allow you to kill most of the "red" mobs with ease. Of course, there are limits to what can be done solo, even with this setup.

As for what you should wear for armor, the bracers and biceps are good, but you really should have a helmet. None of the previously mentioned things should be hard to attain once you grind for a buff session or two.. And once you ARE a master, you can take bigger missions for previously unattainable amounts of money, which then makes it easier to go on pleasure hunts that really make the most out of the PvE side of the game.

Thats my advice, take it or leave it.
