OK, I know this is a basic question, but I'm a relatively new to pikeman (currently 4/4/3/4). I've been focusing on leveling, but now I want to start looking for some good pike loot. I know the Nightsisters are the source, but I've got a couple of questions.
1. Which Nightsister hang-out is the place to go?
2. Can I solo anything that will drop nice pikes -- I'll of course be buffed with good Kashyykian hunting armor. I can also call on two serious BE pets that have light armor, 11000 HAM, knockdown and strong poison -- I'm also an MCH.
Thanks. Again, sorry for such a basic question.

You should really go for master first. At 4,4,3,4 you're missing PolearmHit3 , melee mitigation3 and a fair bit of speed , accuracy and some defences , all of which you will really need against Nightsisters.
If you're soloing NS make sure you have mind buffs as well as regular ones and the firstaid skill in medic as they can put some fearsome bleeds on you. Also takesome synthsteak with you for when you get dizzy/Kd'd by them. Fully buffed and armoured you should be ok to solo stuff up to and including Protectors although i should start off on stuff like Rangers and Outcasts to get a feel for how they fight.
As for areas , head to the stronghold POI and theres two valleys in a 'V' shape around it. Anywhere in this area should hold plenty of NS.
Good hunting.

Yea you should also hold down the run button and burst run if you happen upon a NS elder. ha ha I have done that many times myself. The best thing to do is, initially, try to approach the mobs slowly and lure one or maybe two out at a time. Until you are sure you can handle them without a problem. Also something that you may have already noticed -- if you have a speeder or swoop out -- those bastrds will go right after it and destroy it. Best to have it stored, unless you think you might need to "boogie" in a hurry.

Yeah, then a master swordsman comes along and solos the entire group (3 protectors and 2 assorted) without breaking a sweat. This happened to me today. After he kills them, he runs to the near by elder and solos her! It made me wonder why the heck I have a pikeman.I thought about dropping it and doing swords, but I realized that I'll have a Jedi in a little while anyway and it won't matter soon. Seriously, why do we stick with pikeman when swords is so much better? I've asked myself that question many times...

I originally mastered pikeman because I saw that not many did. I noticed that everyone had master tk. I like to be original, and I figured that all professions were good in their own was,so I chose pikeman. I figured that the devs wouldn't make a profession so much more powerful than the others(i.e. tk) when it took the same amount of time to get. Boy was I wrong. I would venture to say that a lot of us got pikeman for that reason, to be original. We sacrifice being able to compete in this game, for originality. Oh well, Jedi will be here soon. ThenI'll be able to compete, PLUS I'll be original.

I'd say so too, but they are still few compared to tk.
tk's are becoming a thing of the past. I can easily outdamage a tk with area attacks...meaning, I could take out a group of things (anythingin game that a tkm can handle) faster than a tk can take out one. Regular NS for example. TK's only have one damage type. Pikemen have 3, and one is medium aromr piercing. Tk is a solid prof but a speedcapped pikemen is way better for pve. Similar situation with swords. Swordsmen are good at soloing elders but pikemen can complete with just about any other mod.

Yeah, you do have some good points. But for all intents and purposes, pikemen only have 2 damage types. I don't know of anyone who actually fights with a NSEL. I was fighting NS with a friend of mine who is a tk/ranger on day. He was saying that he wanted to pick up pikes because of how much damage I was doing. The good thing about pikes is that there are a lot of good looted ones. Most other profs have to rely on crafters. A pikeman with a lot of money to buy a good pike can be better than any combat prof, but a pikeman with a crafted pikevs a tk with a crafter vk wont be able to compete. Pikeman is a prof for the rich, or for people who go to fight NS a lot. Thus, Pikeman is good, but only good with a weapon not made by a crafter.
