I know one does not get certified until novice PM, but I was wondering if I could still use it. Unarmed charachters can use Vk"s even though you dont get certified until novice TKA.

Any thoughts?

Just use a reinforced combat staff until you can use a lance.

As jeffinthebox posted, use a reinforced combat staff until you can use a regular lance, then use that instead until the certification for vibro lance (currently novice pikeman) if that's what you're bent on getting. Just curious, why do you "really not like" the LVA?

No, the weapon I like the most is the Vibro Lance. Its what I want to use the sooner the better. Its also the best weapon for a pikeman right?

The truth I was climbing to TKA, but Im considering pikeman now. I just want some info on the best way to start.

It's not necessarily the best weapon for a pikeman. I only use an LVA, personally. I guess it's up to the pikeman, the only reason I see to use an LVL over an LVA is if you want a little more accuracy or the electricity attack. The LVA always does more damage and can be sliced down to nearly 3 speed. I personally prefer the way the LVA looks, it's similar to the LVL, except the back end just has a big blade. If you're not concerned about the difference in damage, it's all just preference.

The problem with the LVA is accuracy. The DPS doesn't matter if you can't land a hit. At master level, this is less of a problem - I can see that. However, when you're climbing the ranks to master I HIGHLY recommend using the vibro lance.

I prefer the look of the LVA, but my experience over the past couple days has been that the VL performs better for someone who's not at the Master level. I used the LVA exclusively until I worked out the DPS numbers.

One thing to consider when making calculations on dps is that the difference in accuracy isn't all that great between the LVA and the VL. Mine are currenly -54 and -38 I think. Also make sure to consider that the LVA has a medium armor piercing compared to the light pierce of the VL. To tell the truth, Ive actually switched in most cases to using a regular old lance. True it has no armor piercing, but the +10 accuracy and significantly lower ham costs make this more of a skill weapon, instead of a guessing game like the vibro weapons can be. Whenever I fight a creature that has an armor you can switch to the vibros but being able to use a special can really make a difference.

I loved my LVAuntil I worked out the numbers and hit ratios. Then I swtiched to the VL and watched my overall damage output go up because I'm now hitting more than I miss.
