Hi there, let me introduce myself 
My name is Guls BadLuck, Rebel Lieutenant on Kauri. Actually Carbineer/Combat Medic, I'm heading to Pikeman/Doctor, but the most important question is: why ?
First, because I find it so beautiful ... yeah I know that's not a good reason but I can't play a character that isn't beautiful to me, so, to me, it's very important. Then, I've never played a close combat profession yet, and I would like to try. Finaly, I don't like "overpowered-professions-played-by-90% of the players" ... Mr. Holocron said me: "You must be Teras Kasi Master !" Bah ... I'd better sold it ...
So I decided to finish Carbineer and then head to Pikeman, and I began to read threads and sites about Pikemen, ask other pikemen what they think about this profession, and so on ... I read FAQs and threads on this board too.
First thing I heard about Pikeman is "Pikemen miss a lot !" then "Pikemen **** in PvP and duels !" then "Pikemen are useless !" and finaly "You won't find anybody to teach you !" ... so I decided to be a real pikeman, cause I like doing rare professions.
But sometimes I read "Yeah I killed 2 rancors !" or "I soloted pikets !" or "I can handle a Nightsister solo !" and I just wanted to ask you: Is it real ?Is Pikeman (I mean, not a master Pikeman but an average pikeman) a good soloer ? With Carbineer/CM, my problem was that I couldn't solo anything, and sometimes groups aren't funny at all or take too much time and if you can't solo you can't do anything ...
To finish this thread, I would like to say that I really appreciate the very special "athmosphere" (I'm sorry for not speaking english very well) of this board And I have 2 questions left:

2) I would like to show some screenshots of nice pikeman fights, PvP, PvE or anything you can show me to help me wait until I've finished this damed last carbineer box and can finaly begin my journey to pikeman

Well keep in mind those I solo.... are from being doc buffed good armor and spice/food thrown in as well. If the mob melees at master for myself I can stand toe to toe with those 10k ham mobs and well I can almost solo a rancor its like 80/20 of me living with just good ubese armor no spice or buffs. But when it comes to like Stormtroopers or high level npcs with guns they go through me like nothing since I dont wear composite. And being kitied isnt fun either. Also remove any thought of being usefull on a krayt hunt since once you in melee range it wont be but a couple of seconds before you are on your back.
I havent pvped but dueling a tka isnt even fun the only thing I was able to do was piss him off with a dot of fire from a dropped staff after that I was just pummled into the ground.
But its each to his own melee seems like you are actually doing something in a fight and some of the animations on the specials are a real nice. Just get in touch with the other pikeman on the server for training and find out whos the pikeman friendly weaponsmith that makes weapons worth using. For me its (shamless plug) johnny-umah on chilistra who just got me a post patch after slice lva with max dmg just over 500.

I started soloing Sharnaffs at novice pikeman. with buffs, decent kinetic armour, and vasarian brandy, you can take out pretty much any old creature you want. I'm 2-1-1-2 right now, and I can solo rancors easy. part of that may be that I'm also a master brawler, and use warcry2 and intimidate 2 on everything, always.
VS NPCs I'm just as good. when I feel like going imp hunting I don my composite (sliced to 80s in all effectivenesses including energy) and go to town. with vasarian brandy and doc buffs I can solo all the stormtroopers I want, no problem whatsoever.
I can only imagine how much more badass I'll be once I get area dizzy and knockdown attacks. booyah.

I can solo the juvinalie krayt dragons pretty easy. Takes awhile but It gets the job done. Master Brawler myself, dont know what I will do once warcry is nerfed.

to answer the pike/doc question...that is what i am currently doing on ahazi. i am a master doc 10(3)1 pike...i have the exp to train defense 3 just havent done it yet...i just recently bought my 80% kin comp armor form a buddy and got killer enc slices an all pieces...neways, i havent had the chance to really solo nething with my complete armor...i usually buff myself (using doc clothing) around 2200+ all stats then muon...i only hit muon if my mind is getting low...thiknk ima start buying chef food soon...neways, from before my comp armor sadly i was using bone...i could kill 1 piket out of 3 surrounding me (without a mind buff mind u) so i am assuming with a mind buff i could have fared pretty well (and especially now that i have my armor)...for me /warcry1 is enough...havent had the privaledge of master brawler and /warcry2 and i think if i had master brawler and dropped it for doctor...i would hurt...u either shell out the money for buffs and master brawler for /warcry2 (currently around 20 seconds delay i think...) or master doc for personal buffs and use /warcry1 (10 seconds roughly). either way u will do well...just wish i had more points to master med/doc brawler/pike...that would just be awesome

well... i beat the ever lovin crap out of my TKM friend today... i totaly dominated the fight... were talking i was in control start to finish, and this is without using warcyry2. i put a nice poison/disease on his health to start (thank you nightsisters) then, when it was just getting out of hand, and taking way to long to finish, i poped him with a nice mind poison (another dot staff), and then just pounded him till he went incap...
TK's just cant seem to compete with me, even with ok (1000-1500pt) buffs, and some 55% ubese. the only problem is i cant kill them either... which is where staffA (150pt mind dot) staffB (90pt mind dot) and SpraystickA (190pt mind dot) come into play and yes, they stack

No kidding, the weapon based dots are stacking? Do you know if they stack off of specials? IE. Action hit + Action disease?

The toughest thing I've ever soloed was a Giant Dune Kimogila. But I had to rely on pre-nerf bleeds and poison and use the NPC there to tank for me while I ran around like a coward. In a straight fight, my limit is pretty much a Nightsister Spellweaver or below (usually below).
Then again, I take 100% of the damage that hits me, or if I'm lucky enough to have a working PSG I take 80% for about 30 seconds. Hooray for wookiees!
