Thread: for a new pikeman: what works, and what's broke?

pretty simple question. which of the special moves in the trees work as advertised, and which are broken? for example I see there are two area attacks that supposedly dizzy the oponent. do these both work? does the area KD work?

I'm trying to decide what order to go up the skill trees in, and I've done enough other combat profs that I know a lot of special moves will be broken, so I'd like to know ahead of time.

I'm mostly concerned with doing as much damage as I can per unit time. so far I'm 0-1-1-2 and thinking I'm going to go straight to 0-4-1-x to get the area dizzy along with leg hit 3. is this a good choice or should I go up the first tree to get the speed bonuses and the other dizzy?

I must say, so far I'm liking pikeman a great deal, though having just recently done swordsman I'm finding the damage to be a little dissapointing. I'm hoping that having area knockdown and dizzy effects is going to make up for the shortcomings damage wise.

thanks for your input!

I believe that all are moves are working as intended...which is nice, however our HAM cost are outragously high so be aware..

amazing. that will make this the first of 6 combat classes I've done that doesn't have a broken special. thanks for the info.

as for the ham costs, yeah, I noticed that. 200 ham for a special is intense, so I ONLY fight buffed. if I can't find a doctor anywhere, then tatooine sunburns.

any thoughts on the order I should climb the trees? I'm interested in doing lots of damage, I don't need defense.

I could be wrong, im not Master just yet, I think Leg-Hit3 cost alot of HAM, and is not a big jump in damage from Leg-Hit2, we also have some redundant hits as well, as for damage...

Go up the Offensive Line..

Do the speed line first. The only way to improve your damage per second is to decrease the time between attacks. Those area attacks are going to be awfully slow without speed mods.

I went 001x, 401x, 404x, 444x.

And yeah, Leg Hit 3 isn't much better than Leg Hit 2 IMO.

Hummm... So I m guessing the ph3 is working now? Last time I used it the posture change modin it was so broken, I stopped using it when my targets was down...

The bleeds(Actionhit1 &2)are no more effective in the way the used to be, so just as might skip that part of the skills

Hope I have been of some help, or at least given you some ideas

ive noticed that since the new publish, area attack2 is broken. When i use it and the target is either dizzied or stunned, no damage is done to them.

I would suggest making sure you only use VL's and LVA's that were designed and made after the patch, as the range modifiers (i.e. accuracy) are way better now on those weapons, ham is lower slightly and damage slightly better I would say also. If your LVA isn't in the -20 or better (VL in the -1 or better range) range then you need to find a new one.

nothing that good available yet on my server. my LVAs are -30 and my VLs are -10, and yes they're post patch, but it's still better than -50 on the old LVA
