I was told that I should be working on Defensive as my first tree. To go completely up it and then move on to the Offensive and Stances trees. I understood the reason was because of being better able to tank with the Defensive tree being completed. But I am finding that after getting the first box, I can tank pretty damn well. I was thinking of starting up the more offensive trees to take down my targets faster. What do you guys think? So far, my skills are 0/0/1/2.

I went for
004x
404x
444x
and i found that the best for what i was doing at the time, if you can tank them fair enough, but when i did it i was still trying to afford armour :'( And tbh i barely noticed any difference in defences(i got hit, then i got hit and generally died), it just meant i could rack up some nice pike exp before getting trained
sweep2 is nice though as is melee mitigation 2
not that this really helps.
ho ho ho sorry

I went up stances first for the speed and its what I suggest for everyone who ask me. Why stances? The faster you can swing the axe the faster they die. Even if you go up offensive and get the better moves, they will be painfully slow.

i am utilizing the strategy I should have used for fencer: pick up actionhit2 (010x) and then go up the speed tree (410x). spam actionhit2 all the way (with buffs and mind food no sweat, even better with 70-80 kinetic resist ubese). then go 440x and start using actionhit3 at 430x and finally 4444 (the last should be 4 by the end of the second tree completion). actionhitx might not be the name, but i am referring to the one you gain with 010x pikeman (x is including depending on your residual amount of CXP from previous melee profs.

LMAO. No, no.
I didn't mean leg hit 2 doesn't work, I meant his strategy doesn't work.
At least it never did for me.

First thing I did was get 001x for the melee mitigation. Then I went 401x, then 404x, then (still working on it..) 4444. Those speed mods made a world of difference.. I've never seen a VL hit something so damn quick.
After I got the speed tree done, the rest was in the bag.

ok legwand, i know ur gonna knock me for this, but it actually worked for me pretty well. when i started out, sadly i was using bone armor. yes yes bone armor. because of this i started out going up defenses and got to def2. once i had the money, purchased 80% comp for 300k somewhere and master legwand guided me to the stances tree. i started off with stances 1 and noticed a general add in speed, but nothing all that much. my weapon at the time already was 2.1 and with a good powerup i could get it down even lower, so speed wasnt an issue. i went aganist legwands master judgement and did def3 for mit2. i never had a problem killing things (fast or slow) so i finished the defense tree just so i could have a different title other than novice. i then finished stances and then offense. i would initially get defense1 at the least for mit1 then work on stances. if you feel u need some better defenses go up to defense3, then finish stances. but the general consensus from everyone is to do offense tree last. hope that helps
