Thread: TKM or some doc?

This has probably been asked somewhere, but is TKM, Doc, or a hybrid of these more efficient? A lot of people seem to be taking up doc or TK with pikes.Wouldn't give up MPikes for the world, but been a bit confused about what would work in practise along with it.

Thanks =)

TKM would be very useful in that it has Innate Armor, Improved COB and More General Speed/Accuracy.

And if you had doctor (sorry to state the obvious) you would get to buff yourself, and have great heals etc.

Perhaps you could try Master Pikewoman TKM and 4000Doctor ( just an idea )

Hope I was useful

Personally, I swapped for my looong-term pre-CU template of Pike/Doc to a post-CU template of Pike/TKM/dabbling in fencer and swords.

I now see doc as something only really worth taking if you intend to play a healing role in groups. Since I rarely fight in a group that really needs another healer I get much more benefit by expanding my attacks and personal defenses with another melee mastery.

Thanks for the opinion. I have some FS stuff as well which limits my SP.

Was reluctant to drop TKM (no buying armour! yay!) but healers are always useful. Plus fighting a doc one on one without being able to heal is in theory a bit of a lost cause.

I settled on MPike/TKM/Doc 4000 for my final template. It's got pretty much the same staying power as what I was testing - TKM/MSwords/Pike0443, but it lets me heal others as well, so I'm more versatile. The downside is I do my damage more slowly than when I had swrds.

I think it boils down to two things - would you rather tank with or without buying armor, and do you want to be healing others? If you're willing to buy armor, I'd go Doc - you can get some armor that's on par with TK Innate Armor, but it'll be costly, and you'll have to upkeep. But you'll be able to heal yourself, and your friends, which can be invaluable. If you don't want to deal with healing, or finding armor, go TKM, and find some stylish clothes.

TKM=Free armor! with no decay!

and COB and powerboost are really good for self buff.You could also always do

TKM/M.pikeman/Medic 4x4x

(if your not planning on going FS or already have a Jedi toon you could get some box's in doc)

I went with the tkm/mpike/4000doc combo myself and I have to say that its extremely well rounded overall, however I can't help but wonder if I could adopt even more of a tank role if I invested my medical skills into more melee boxes, particularly master brawler.

You probably could enhance your tanking ability with some more combat based proffession skills, however I feel that without a healer you may struggle (obviously the use of stims will help a great deal). I have got a Pikeman already with a nice template. But I am thinking about taking up Pikeman on my alt..

There were two templates I was thinking of:

TKM / MPikeman / 4000 DOC As said in this thread, good defences armor COB etc and great healing ability

or

TKM / MPikeman / MBrawler / 2134Swords As far as I can see, this template would deal great damage (got a good pike)with the swordsman special attacks, enables me to use advanced armor break, and AreaTaunt to complete my role as a tank (any input on this skill would be apprechiated, I am unfamiliar with it) Along with the added speed etc, I would use pikeman as a primary.

Any thoughts?

I currently have Master Pike, TKM, swords 0030 and medic 0040. This seems to work very well for me. The heals are nice but sometimes not enough. If you get into a hard situation at least you can keep some stim D's on hand to help you. This seems to be a great tank template for my play style. I was going to get rid of swords and do more medic but the armor break attacks are to much of an asset to give up.

Im Mpike,Mdoc, 0,2,0,2tk. I use this for tanking 4 or more jedi in pvp, area KD is awesome.... ive taken a whole group down with it. Mdoc provides buffs and heals, tk gives me some more defense plus COB and combo. Im pretty unstoppable unless u gang 3 riflemen and 4 jedi on me. Ive rarely died in pvp, havent lost in a duel yet. Yesterday mass pvp, died 2 times and still kept 2359 combat rating. And i only started a few weeks ago.

Definatly tho, if u really wanna tank tank id get Mdoc. Totally is a must have for those dmg dealers, 4,0,0,0doc isnt always gonna cut it.

Well in the end I stayed with Master Pikes/TKM/MBrawler and my stoopid FS stuff.

I cannot duel at all, as the majority of people have doc, but that's OK as I only fight within large groups anyway. Itis just turning out to be a major disadvantage when I get jumped within the guild war I am in at the moment.I find the center of being to be very useful, (when I remember to turn on my macro ) especially when I get rooted, which is 90% of the time. =P
