Thread: Soloing unbuffed tips for pikeman big and small.
From another post i added to, it seemed a good enough thread to make/restate/resurrect ![]()
I did 3/4 of my master pike solo on dantooine without buffs, here's the key:
1a. Choose your enemies and your weapon carefully, huurton on dant are the stand-out faves...huurton howlers in particular give the best xp for the least combat-time. They db so take care, and LEARN TO PULL one at a time. This is a life long skill
When you begin you will probably use the vibro lance for it's speed, huurton have no defense against it; Later when you get faster, switch to LVA, you'll finally be able to hit things and a 3.2 speed sliced LVA is wicked against any opponent. A dam-sliced LVA when you get to 3/0/3/2-3 and a Berserk on, well... I can pvp non-doc TKA's without shame, I lose way more than I win, but I freak them out completely when I win ![]()
- Get a 3-piece suit of Warcry/intimidate +13 or more from a BE/tailor. make sure one's an undershirt.
- Any decent pet is your best pal, cowardly gurrecks or mtn krevols, use 'em while you still can.
- A crate of tatooine sunburn with dur 400+ is your 2nd best pal.
- 5-8 Crates of melee powerups (speed/dam my early fave) in your pack are your 3rd-11th best pals

- B4 you enter combat, from 25m, drop 2 intitimidates on your target, they stack and don't initiate aggro.
- Swap to your quick-keyed suit of 60+ ubese filled with +1-2 skill mods, your int/warcry t-shirt stays on. For humanoids use a bone suit with some minimal kinetic resist, don't use a helmet unless your opponent starts tagging your mind.
- When you enter combat, use KD to keep opponent down and warcry to slow them up, re-applying intimidate if the battle goes too long.
- When you fight humanoids, dizzy/kd is a lethal combo.
- When you have an opponent down, or are close to ending the fight, go berserk.
- Fighting something much bigger? You shouldn't be, but if you are, bleed it, whack it once, than run/galloplike hell, come back when it's "done" for the coup de grace...this is the only way for you to take out a Jedi, assuming you dont have at-st's and/or Grauls.
So...you really don't need to use many special attacks, and one good (350+) stim B got me throughone 3500xp fight (oops THAT's your best pal lol) on average.
I found that raising speed skills and block skills at the same time (maxxing xp before training both at once) was the most efficient use of my time, by the time I was 2/0/2/1 I wasn'tdying muchanymore, as long as i didn't get completely mobbed, learning to pull only 1 enemy at a time is a lifesving skill (Thanks to Mo' on shadowfire, my teacher! And Chuck, for his guidance).
Everyone has their favorite skill-tree path, so I don't claim mine is better...I just liked getting the best skills first, and it was obvious to me that to use too many speciall attacks would be to court annihilition at my own hands.
May the sunburns never run dry...
antares
master pikeman
Well, I may only be a novice pikeman, but I am a master chef. To expand on what Antares said...
I am no warrior, but I did manage to take on 5-6 humbabaas (I need domesticated meat, at the moment) without dying. Part of what gets me through is a complement of 6 different foods/drink (all hotkeyed). The other part is the combat skills you have all taught me. (keep centered, get the bleeds started, etc)
As for the foods, I currently keep the following:
F: Corellian Sweetbread (Ryschate) - for strength/quickness/focus (eases ham use)
D: FlameOut - (berserker juice - high (1500) health with a bad (-100) mind effect (mind/focus/willpower)
F: Ormachek - quick mind pump +130 or so to mind/focus/willpower
D: Tatooine Sunburn - strength/stamina, focus hit
F: Thakitilla - Warrior food +350 health/strength/constitution (for about 15 minutes)
D: Angerian Fishak Surprise - MindTonic
Starting battle, I'll pump 1 bread, and a flameout... the flameout is fairly filling but it will carry me through most battles, from there, I use foods the way most would use heals. Though I have the skill, I find it a big drain on mind to heal myself with stims, so I use the food for it. During battle, I watch myself. If my mind goes below half I'll pop an ormachek (my tummy will have room), by the time my action starts showing a hit, I can handle the sunburn. That will last me a good 5+ minutes more. At this point the toll is taking on my mind and my health buff has worn off. So, for such extended battles, I pop the Fishak for a mind heal, and the Thakitilla to give me some staying power.
I apologize for seemingly hijacking the thread, it was not my intent. I just wanted to demonstrate that food/drink may be more versatile than even those that use it may realize. If you prefer more of a discussion on food, please create a new thread.
