Thread: Would Master Brawler or Master Ranger be a better 'other' class?

I was thinking of Master Ranger because of harvesting and creature hit bonus? The only advantage I see with brawler is Int 2 and Warcry2?

Master Brawler is very nice. +5 melee/ranged defenses, +5 toughness, polearmlunge2 = 20m KD, and warcry2 and intimidate2 which are very powerful.

The to-hit bonus for creatures only applies to ranged attacks at the moment, but a master ranger does get +10 to both melee and ranged defense.

Master Brawler will increase your combat power by a lot...however, if you're happy with being a Master Pikeman and like grouping, go Ranger. I say that because there are not many Rangers in the game, you can make more money selling resources, and people will love your ability to track creatures and players. As far as I understand it, the traps and the to-hit bonuses in the ranger tree are pretty insignificant

Yes, being grouped with a ranger is indeed nice. If you're a PvE fan, I'd say go ranger, they'rea pretty good class.

But if you're big on pvp, brawler would be more beneficial.

If you have the points I would go ranger, but my play style is more PVE with groups and we hunt certain creatures most of the time

I am a 2-2-4-4 Ranger right now with 0-0-3-0 Pikeman and 3-2-1-3 Creature Handler, I will not be able to master all of them but the two I cant get rid of are Pikeman and Ranger. Ranger is just so much fun and helpful with conceal and maskscent you can traverse any planet almost freely (at master). It also allows you to track creatures that you want to kill which is always great. Also the camps are nice, the traps can help to the two most helpful are Flash Bomb + Wire Mesh Trap and the Stink Bomb is decent as it allows for status effects to be applied easier.

Intimidate (Less damage) + Flashbomb(Blind[Less hit chance]) + Lower Melee Defense(or more damage I cant figure it out) is pretty nice.

I am definately enjoying ranger, i wish I could be Pikeman/Ranger/Creaturehandler like I want to be.

Once I enjoyed this game. Now I find myself coming back to it even though it is not what it once was. True massocist behavior.

This is pretty much the answer.

PvE: Ranger

PvP: Brawler

I should know, I've done both. I dropped master ranger for master brawler because I started fighting the war more. Though I will say that intim and warcry 2 are both very handy in PvE also, but ranger has depth, and cool unique skills like conceal and areatrack. I still have the /areatrack line for PvP, which is still quite useful for tracking down those nasty imps...

Great, thanks for the response! I'll probably go master brawler first then slowly make way to Ranger.

Actually, Ranger is great for pvp. If your Imp, sit at the Emporers retreat, and you can track rebels farming dark troopers, and know where they are and get em. My friend is ranger, and we have a blast doing it. when i hit a rifleman with polearmhit 3, for 1500 points in pvp.. mmmm i felt good

I currently a master brawler as well as a 0-0-4-0 Ranger (will have to give up one or the other for skill points later on)

It's like they sais. PvE = Ranger PvP = Master Brawler. I love the fact that I can get nearly 100 hides off of a huurton stalker.

The problem with the Master Brawler intimidate and warcry is that they are cone and not AOE. The cone effect is useless because mobs gather around you in an AOE style and not a cone style. So your warcry2 and intimidate2 still only hit one creature.

You can get some BE clothing to get basically the same +20 to warcry/intimidate that master brawler gives you.

Like I said in a previous post I have master brawler but I'm not going to keep it. I'm mainly PvE and those extra skill points will be used to flesh out my characters scout and medic skills.
