I keep hearing that pikeman sucks now. How is pikeman on it's own?

for pve.

I think it's one of the more well rounded melee classes out there actually. If you look at Swordsman you'll see they only have specials that make them do damage, if you look at TK you'll see they have almost exclusively defensive specials. Pikeman on the other hand have a mix of both offensive (an area KD, a normal area attack, Impale) and defensive specials (warcry, intimidate, stunning blow). So you can perform pretty much whatever role is required at the moment.

You can take other classes to enhance either your offensive or your defensive, but in my opinion if you just look at the Pikeman class on it's own it's one of the most balanced classes out there.

I tried pikeman way back in the day and hated it more then anything. Now i think it's one of the more fun professions in the game! I wouldnt give it up for anything.

It depends on what you like truly, Say you want pike but you heard it sucks but you still wanna be pikeman do it! it is something you might have fun with which is really the whole point of this dev forsaken game!

but mabye you want to focus on being Dr. L33t Ub3r M3ister that is your desicion really you should just play what you want to play

Pikeman's too hot to handle.

But seriously, it's nice, well rounded, good damage, combined with TKM for defense, and some doc or medic for healing...

Mmmm.. I taste Victory :-D

Pre CU, I was a hardcore MDoc/MSwords. I swore up and down I would never change. I mocked other professions. I hung my hammers on my walls with pride.
