Hello to all , just had a question here. Im currently a Fencer/Doc and was just wanting to know how the Pikeman compares to the Fencer. I enjoy the Fencer Prof , however it seems like the Pikes always out damages mein Battle.

Any help will be appreciated , Thanks

fencer = Low damage, High defence

Sword = High damage, Medium defence

Pike = Medium damage, Low defence

so ya, we out damage you in PVE, try fighting PVP and fencers have more along the lines of medium damage, and pikes get Low damage thoug... you get stun, we get stuck with Electric and Kinetic (think composit armor)

Hey ya, Sarafyn:

Hope your day is going well. To answer your question, as a former Master Pikeman and now Master Fencer, in a straight up one on one unarmoredbattle a Master Fencer wouldbeata MasterPikeman. This is caused by many reasons:

1. A MF has good defences with dodge and against knockdowns and posture changes, which doesn't help the Pikeman whening fighting one.

2.The Pikeman profession has bad range modifiers on most of their weapons, making them often unable to hit their enemies.

3.The Fencer is considerablyfaster when attacking, allowing them to close a battle fast against the more incumbered Pikeman.

Not to rule out Pikeman at all, it is a beautiful-looking profession, and at master you'll be fast with these huge weapons; great for fighting enemies more-so outside of PvP.

got that the wongway round sorry mate pike has better defence then swordsmen but lower dmg output

good point. and with the sythe u are able to hit speed cap of 1sec and still do 3k dmg in pve (just multiply that by .75 to git the pvp total)

also pikemen has the LOWEST dps (damage per secound) than any other melee class.

We do have better (primary) defences than swordsmen. Both our ranged and melee ones are about 25% higher. So we are harder to hit. This is countered by the secondary defences, if ours triggers (which should be less often) we take 50% damage. Swordmen secondary defences (counterattack) should trigger more, for which they take no damage if its successful.

I think you will find the definition is balance!!

As for Fencer vs Pikeman. It depends on what you want to do. For PvP, Fencer without a doubt. For PvE, Pikeman for sure. We are up there with swordsmen, with strengths and weakness (between the two) simply being which mobs you are attacking at the time and how many (Pikemen are stronger against multiple targets as our AoE specials are more diverse).

Fencer will win hands down in most circumstances. The only thing which can turn the tables is pure luck.

As a Master Pike, I've done alot of dueling with a fencer in guild. The only reason our bouts can even come close is the fact he's a wookie, and if I sneak a few exo-protien wafers. This is with a nice VL that's operating at my speed cap, only attacking the legs. I stand a better chance if I don't even attempt a sweep or dizzy as it is usually a wasted move. This is buffed with myself in comp, him in cerimonial, me with a low stun resist PSG.

There comes a time in every mans life when 86 years is just too damn long...

if fencer is low offesne high defense, and swordsman high offense, low defense, who the hell would want to be low defense/meduim offence? Is thatA no one I hear?

Its more complicated than that. LIke AoE's, etc.
