Protectors, Spellweavers, Sentinels, Stalkers are my top-cut choices. The others like Rangers, Outcasts, Initiates still have a chance to drop good stuff, too, though. EPSSSROIS.

Well supposedly (spelling?) the higher the npc is, the higher chance you have to loot nice items. However, while you kill a single elder during that whole time you would have killed many more others nightsisters.

I think its fair to say that i gotten good loot from all the nightsisters cept elder .. why? Cause i certainly killed like 1 elder for 200 rangers. So, yeah there is more chance to find something worth on a ranger than a elder if you think about it that way.

But if you want an order of how the Nightsisters are ranked in terms of toughness :

Elder

Protector

Spellweaver

Sentinel

Stalker

Outcast

Ranger

Initiate

Sentry

I never bother with Elders - the time to kill/loot never seems to be worth it.

I have been hunting those Protector/Spellweaver/Sentinel groups and get some ok stuff, a lot of clasps, leather, armour plates and the like.However last night I happened to destroy a group of stalkers that was in my way and got 3 lances. 1 was crummy with basic disease, one had basic disease and 169 mind poison with -1 uses (30s and 40% pottho *cry*) and 1 had a 295 str, 87% pot, 220s, 2k uses action poison! Woot!

So in short, I might be changing my tack a little in future

Personally I think its random for most stuff, tho Im guessing the lower end ones arent likely to drop that (exceptional) we are all after.

I usually just kill them all, haven't seemed to find any real good corellation between toughness and good loot. I've killed several elders and have only gotten crappy white name lances or creds. I did find a +8 Healing range SEA on an outcast.

I think Rangers are the best for effort/reward. They are not that hard to kill and seem to drop things. Although with the current state of auto-attacking NS's, I'll usually just charge into the group of spell weavers/protectors/stalkers or whatever and kill them, as long as an elder isn't there. I can't solo an elder (well, I could conceal shot one but that's boring) so I only take them if I have my 2-hand swords partner with me.

Well I can understand your porblem with elders but really how often a day/week do you kill elders?

I hunt elders every day for 8 hours at least and there are days that I get nothign but creds and days I get uber loot like;

* +25 to wep experimentation skill tape
* +25 to armor experimentation skill tape
* +16 to pistol accurcy while standing (Bandoleer)
* +25 to polearms speed +25 to intimidate (Bandoleer)
* +8 to wep experimentation
* Exceptional Bowcaster 130+ damage max DOT Poison aciton (rought stats) Strength 893 POtency 230% Duration 227s Uses 21833
* +12 to pole arm accuracy
* +8 to droid tracking

Plus Heaps more.

This has all been looted off elders by me in the last 2 weeks. As I said every day for 8 hours YOu want the uber stuff elders are it. Sure I get great mind fire and action fire and Health fire unlimited uses off Weavers and Protectors but for uber skill mods nearly every time elders are it.

Like with anything in the game like krayt pearls you gotta hunt them relentlessly to gain the rewards not just go for 1 buff set once a week and throw your hands in there air saying why don't i loot anythign good.

Rangers own for dot lances I find more so than any other type of NS there drop rate for lances is good. I have the least luck with protectors, I alwasy seem to get great loot from Rangers and spell weavers. Ocassionaly outcasts as well.Stakers I seem to mainly get clasps or leather YUK =P

My advise you want those speed and accuracy tapes Hunt elders. What you can't use you sell =)
