Do we really want them to be our specialty?

okay in PvE they are good to a point, DWB they suck because you pull so much aggro, tho i do love the dmg our VL can do there.

in pvp they are worthless though, if youve ever been in a large battle you know that its VERY rare for people to be grouped up close enough to use them, unless they are huddled in a base.

my main concern is that the range on our area attacks may not be enough to help us along if thats what our specialty (post cb) is, as far as PvP goes.

any thoughts/comments?

I guess we ahve to face teh undeniable fact that pikemen jsut aren't made for PvP yet, we are a strictly PvE class, i'm only a 4044, and yet i feel more powerful in PvE than any of the otehr melee proffesions i've mastered which is umm all of them. i plan on keeping my Pike abilities for the PvE alone, as combined with fencer, it can be quite deadly.

Yes, it has never made sense that you can hit someone from the same max distance barehanded as you can with a 6 foot long stick. This seems like an easy way to add something to pike, giving us higher range than the other melee profs, as it would come in very handy when fighting ranged templates. Not knowing anything about programming I always assumed that the range was some fundamental part of the coding, or else they would have changed it to help de-gimp pikeman long ago. But this extended range is one of my realistic hopes for the CB.

Pikes should get a longer range. That's why you're holding a big stick and not just your fists.

I don't think Pikeman was ever intended to be a good PvP proffession. By the fact that it has lots of area attacks, it just doesn't fit. The two things, area attacks and non-PvP, go hand in hand, and I think it's much better to just not think of Pike as a PvP prof.

Pikeman are fine in PvP, not as powerful as the other profs sure, by by no means weak, only thing i dont like is having to use an area attack to stick dizzy on an opponent, and pikeman defense bonus' should be doubled.

I agree with the extended range, as the other melee proffs are all relativly the same length'd attack, being small differences between unarmed to heavy swords, but usinga "Pike/Halebard"(sp?) we should deffinatly have a longer range

IF no other proffesion really had area attacks.

The one WITH area attacks would stand out a great deal.
