ive seen alot of questions and players wanting to rp as the role of an imperial gaurds well there i was at work and i started thinking and i came up with some ideas if you have anything to add please do i want the devs to take this seriously and remember this proffession should be strong but should completely overpower everything this is to please players and help bring balance to the galaxy
1. mkae it hard to obtian by making it a hybrid elite to where you have to master pikeman and master tka. make it have rank requirments in the imperial army
2 to stop the great influx of rebels converting just for the status make it mission based like the jedi system make it to where you must pvp to advance once you obtain novice
3 another idea to stop a huge influx is make it to where you have a choice to be a jedi or an imperial gaurd you cant have both. example if a royal gaurd wants to become a jedi he must first drop all his guard skills including novice to even have a chance to do the missions. also since all jedi start as rebels this would help balance the sides
4 since royal gaurd would take up alot of skill points and since royal gaurds could stand a good fight against jedi make them able to go head to head with low level jedi ie: the way the bounty hunter system should work. once the jedi get to a higher level it will take more gaurds to take them down because jedi should be the strongest combatants in the galaxy but to do this it would help balance out combat
5 have us on the same level as bh should be since all our skill points would be dumped into one proffession
6 bh have unique armor with the new mando armor out so for ours have it be part of the final mission to get novice. and then have the armor be non tradable and except to other royal gaurds. this will give us the feeling we earned something in the game
7.and to help capp the numbers of royal gaurd set it up to where when we die we loose xp and possibly a skill.
8 the select few who have the nerve to finish the missions can enter into a unique proffession with power ful benifits but yet damaging consiquences.
9. and since alot of pikeman would like to see a force pike which is often asociated with the royal gaurds have it to where once we hit a certain level in the royal gaurd tree we are certified in it but then have to do another set of missions to obtian
10 and to become a master royal gaurd you must have completed these task such as getting the armor and the force pike
these are still very rough ideas and i am open for suggestions. i want to iron out the fine detials and ultimatly make it a playable proffession i do plan on sending this to csr's and posting it in the forums under multiple areas so it does get noticed. and like i said jedi should still over power us at a certian level but we should be able to go head to head with the lower ones and i do believe bh should be able to do the same these are my ideas to please players and to help bring balance to the godlike qualities jedis are getting thank you for your time

Good idea zage.
To the poster that flamed,
Royal Guards dont just have Pikeman skills, they were great unarmed fighters and could hold there own with a ranged weopon too. Force pikes would be awesome too.

im not very mindfull on the SW universe, but how many RG were there at any 1 time?
and this just seems to be like jedi to me, i mean having to do trials, and wearing robes, and using meele combat, but this would make a lot of people turn imperial just to be one, and u can buy all the fp u need to get the highest rank so that would not be hard to do. Butt the idea seems good..
this would not make the GCW fair thou having dark jedi and RGs, if u could be a rebel elite member (as said im not mindful, so i have no idea if there even r any) with the force pike then i would be fine with this idea, and support it, as i dont want to be jedi i want there to be another hard to get uber profession, that i can get as a rebel.

Eh, make the formula Master Pikeman / Master brawler to unlock the skill tree Royal guard. Don't make it a big skill tree though, just a novice box maybe that costs 20pts to obtain and enhances all the brawler and pike skills further a little, as well as some defense and a "force pike" certification maybe. Oh yeah, and maybe 20pts of terrain negotiation just for giggles.
But, you would have to be somewhere in the middle ranks of the Imperial military, and being that a Royal guard has high visibility they would have to be constant overt, no covert for someone of this stature.
The trainer for this box would be at the end of a quest, this would include training and background on the Royal guard for story sake.
I think more things like this should be done to improve the story and versitility of the game, why not? Most classes could bennefit from some small enhancments like this that has a story to it. Don't need to create new forms of Jedi, but just a slightly enhanced class system for those that want it.

A new profession that requires you to be one faction without an equivalent profession for the other factions is a bad idea. Common sense would also dictate it should be limited to humans only, unless someone can point out some bothan or mon cal royal guards. Should I be less of a skilled pikeman because I'm a rebel and a wookiee?
Not that an elite-elite class roughly along the lines you mention is necessarily a bad thing, but this particular implementation is too narrow.

like i said this is just rough ideas and as far as the huge influx of rebels going to imperial i dont think it will hapen as is all jedi start off as rebels how is this fair? if a jedi player wants the chance to go to the empire he has to build alot of skills up to get it. besides man the royal gaurds were imps but if like you said making an proffession towards one faction is a bad idea make a proffession for rebels. i do think this will add alot to the game. and if you do make it to where its mission based(like special training since not everyone could be a royal gaurd) i think it will discourage alot of rebels to take the time and money to switch over exspecially for a proffession that will not be the strongest in the game. jedi will still overpower the royal gaurds as they should. i just think there should be more combat classes able to battle jedi and with the new implications to jedi no one will stand a chance.
these are just some ideas this games proffessions right now are so basic and everyone seems to be the same.

The real thing that should be done for this, and other classes, is to create special weapons and armor for the classes that are also based on faction. One big complaint people make is the uselessness of faction items and how if they were more useful or cost efficient it would help with immersion.
Now say you could buy from your faction recruiter at master level, an imperial royal guard armor set, and an imperial royal guard lance. only usable by pikeman. Give it a rank requirement (colonel) and then you have a immersion and roleplay factor. of course the items need to be useful. A similar deal would be available to rebels but totally unique and different from the royal guard items.
All classes could receive "master" level incentive faction outfits and items or utilities that would resemble starwars more. This would also encourage more faction alignment and go good with the updates they have planned for the GCW update and combat balance. They have already stated they are going through all weapons for the balance and they are adding master level weapons. This would be a good way of adding new roleplay items.
It will probably never happen but it is nice to dream.

i like the idea of making it arank system (like jedi), requiring either master TK/master pike, or master brawler/master pike. and make it imperial colonel's only.
while were at it... why not make "Storm Trooper" a profession. same as the RG, always overt, etc, (much like jedi) but based off of a master Ranged prof combo. they, of course, would ware ST armor all the time.
and for the rebellion. Gurillas or something, general perhaps... something equivalent, with a Mele, and a ranged elete PVP class.
this would do some good things for the game, for instance, it would give high level PVP based content, encourage RP, add intrest to the GCW, and take a lot of focus off jedi as the only class to realy strive for.

i agree man storm troopers should be a proffession seeing how not everyone in the imp army was an st. they were an elite group kid of like our navy seals. i would like to see more proffessions based on faction it adds alot to the game

I'd like to see some faction proffessions. In general it's a good concept to being thinking about after the CB and JTL and all the profs that need it are revamped, but this specific implementation is really REALLY conceited. You're saying: "Let's make an uber pikeman proffession that's like Jedi. It will be super special and no one else will be as cool and it will be really hard, just like jedi, and we'll be able to use a pike and fight unarmed and fight ranged and do whatver we want and fly and no rebels and we could be god mode and be reallly special"

ok jawa joe i didnt say royal gaurds should be the uber proffession i said they should be on the same standing as bounty hunter should be maybe you should read the full post before you flame. i also agreed to that the rebels should get a similar proffession to.
you know its funny i read all these post on how having the royal gaurd uniforms in game would be cool so i came up with an idea and pretty much just got flamed. whats up with that i instead of asking for something put some though into this to make it balanced with other proffessions aand make it valid to the starwars story. so i guess what im trying to say is get off my sac you dont like it fine i wont do anything to help anymore
