Thread: Swordsman + Pikeman template?

Hiya,
I am currently a Master swordsman and am enjoying it a lot. I spend most of my time soloing all sorts of nightsisters, including elders and Axkva Min.
This has led to me looting some pretty decent lances (best is 1100+ maxdmg vibrolance (electric dmg), some very nice pikeman SEAs (+9/+10 speed, +17 accuracy), NSEL schematic and a bunch of very nice nightsister vibro units for the NSEL.
This makes me want to play pikeman too. I enjoy doing great damage, and the swordsman/pikeman combo would really be a kicker, if not for hte crappy defenses.
I am currently Master swordsman, master fencer, master brawler, 4003 teras kasi and novice medic.
I have been trying to figure out a working template for swordsman/pikemanme, but tis hard..
A template I am pondering is:
Master swordsman, master pikeman, master brawler, 4020 fencer and 1000 medic
In comparison to current template, I will get worse defense vs states and no Meditation.
However I do it, I can choose if to get worse melee/ranged defense or worse defense vs states.. If I want to cap melee defense I either have to get rid of meditation or novice medic..
Now as a Swordsman I very rarely really need medic. I can most often get away with not using stims if I want to. However, from what I read about Pikeman and its defenses, I might not get away with not having medic.. Whats your opinion on this?
If I can skip medic, I could do master swordsman, master pikeman, master brawler, 4004 TKA and 1000 fencer..
Anyone playing a Master swordsman/master pikeman template? Please provide input on this

Aside from an intense love of the profession, I couldn't recommend going Pikeman for PvE purposes if you are already a Swordsman.

Hi, I predict Pikeman will have the highest defenses after the combat revamp if they indeed want pikeman to be the best melee tanks. If this is the case, you would just swap Pikeman for Fencer in your original template.
If you don't want to wait and do the swap now I don't think you'll notice a big difference PvE because most high end mobs hit you every time regardless of your defenses. You would notice getting hit more often by lower to mid range mobs when you do those though.
If you PvP alot I'd stay with fencer and hold out.
If you do decide to swap, I think you would really help a group in the DWB as alot of mobs there are weakest against the electricity damage type.

Thanks for you input. Like I said, I love swordsman and I can solo most mobs with it.
Some mobs, like the acklay f ex would be done faster with pikes I suppose, as I can get higher kinetic damage with pikes than with swords. And also DWB as electricity dam is low resists..
Also the energy-damage type might be nice sometimes too (if not, it would at least be cool to walk around with a NS energy lance).
I dont currently use fencer at all, except for the passive bonuses as I dont care for pvp. I dont even own a stun baton. o_O
Please, provide more thoughts on this
