Thread: The reason why pikeman hasnt been fixed?

My gut feeling is that the insane amount of deadly DOT weapons in existence on every server is the main reason why pikeman will never be fixed... can you imagine if pikeman was actually a viable profession without these kinds of weapons? If this were the case, the DOT weapons on top of a strong profession would give pikemen a supreme advantage...
That would be like giving .. oh say... Fencers a new kind of loot which allows them to have stun batons > 400 damage. I mean, that would just be nutty, am i right fellas?
soo maybe if we agree to lay down our DOT weapons they will agree to fix the profession?

i've seen a stun batons made with exceptional bones with a min of 400

Our loot weapons are precisely why Pikeman will never get a big fix.
Personally, I'd trade each and every damn looted weapon for us to have a viable class, but there are alot of people here who wouldn't. Its easy to spot their posts also.

ok im confused... i thought there was some chance of us getting at least a noticable change with the combat revamp. and the only reason i use dots is cause i cant compete any other way.
i would love to drop my looted weapons for a viable class.

The reason we haven't been fixed is because we haven't ever been at the top of the list, plain and simple. The reasons for why we havent are really irrelevant, no?
We will be fixed with the comat balance.

Prove it?!?
1) Didn't the devs state somewhere that each combat profession would be balanced yet unique in it's own way?
2) About three weeks ago, a pikeman talked to a developer working on the combat revamp and posted his feedback here on the pikeman forum. The post is probably still up, though you may have to search for it a while.

IT DOESNT MATTER! DOT WEAPONS ARE FAIRLY NEW TO THE SCENE THIS DOESNT EXPLANE THE OTHER DAMN 9 MONTHS!!]
IVE KILLED ZILLIONS OF NIGHT SISTERS AND I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN ANYTHING OVER 200 DMG WITH CRAPPY MODS..!!! So dont go ther,e omg every friggin pikeman have 100 plus dmg cray in mind! BS they are few!!!

I'm not a pikeman and never played one, but I've seen the playstyle of my friend and there's one thing that concerns me with publish9. If the devs indeed implement a long weapon switch delay system, it will become really hard to apply all those dotted pikes. Currently its possible to triple burn poison and disease someone in under 15 seconds and then go at them with your favourite pike.
Oh and as for pikes not getting fixed, I dont believe its because of the dots. Pikes have average damage modifiers, a half effective block, lowest toughness on a melee. Their hit3 gets bugged due to the posture down attached to it. The area kds get affected by the posture down bug as well. Accuracy has been made better. Dots are always cool tho, and although I've never played one, I'm quite sure that despite the troubles of the class, pikes are the most fun melee class to play with the most cool combat moves.

I had my first run in with one of those fotm non master pike wielding a mind fire lance yesterday. Personally I'd love to see the high damage strong dot weapons removed from the game and just increase the variety of loot drop enhancements. I can't wait for the combat changes

I've duelled one on one and two versus one with and without DoT's and I have no problem beating other people, just use good tactics and think about the other professions and what they get:
Teras Kasi: Speed, accuracy, meditation (with powerboost, force of will, and healing all their wounds and states not in combat), damage multipliers, great defenses, can attack any HAM pool, good dizzy/KD move all in one shot, and they beat the crap out of your wounds and battle fatigue

Fencer: Speed, accuracy, awesome dodge, awesome defense, stun damage that can get upwards of 500 damage and doing specials at cap speed with a scatter hit that can target multiple pools, are able to dizzy and posturechange(down) to KD/dizzy you, not to mention about the 2nd highest drop rate of DoT weapons (stone knives and gaffi batons mostly)
Swordsman: Counterattack has been a problem whenever I've duelled the few swordsmen that I've gone against, but only +16 melee defense or whatever at master is pretty messed up but since their weilding a heavy sword/hammer/axe/whatever, they shouldn't have all that great of defense, but they are the BEST at PvE (clear out NS without any problem and can clear out juvy krayts with only average stat player crafted weapons), and they can get very nice powerhammers made with acklay bone.
Pikemen: We get +40 melee defense at master, a great block mod (only stops half damage, but better than nothing and it seems to be very effective), a dizzy (area attacks) and a knockdown attack. But we get the highest drop rate of looted DoT and high damage weapons, however our accuracy isn't all that great with these high damage weapons (such as the LVA's with -45 range mods).
I like how pikeman is pretty well reserved for only a handful of people instead for everyone with a good player crafted weapon that cost them only 5K. This is just my .02 cents though.
