I am a master swordsmen right now, but i find that my template for PvP would be better if i was father in pikeman. (this is not a template question) to get farther in pikeman i'll end up dropping swordsmen. My question is how does pikeman do in PvE compared to swordsmen? i used to hunt elders but never got good loot from them so i don't hunt them anymore.. aside from that can pikeman stand up to a swordsmen in damage output in PvE? i hunt krayts, acklay, and the occasional kimogilla.

pikeman do pretty good, with the right weapons. They can compete with swordsman damagewise, but usually cant beat them damagewise.

i have the opportunity to buy a 1k max dmg LVA, i assume that would out damage my 446 max scythe... and i like to go to the dwb, so the vibro lances (electric) appeal to me. but do you think I will miss the powerhammer? ( i never got a good acklay hammer.. highest dmg one i had was 630)

I have never played a HS so I really have no idea about any HS weapons, but I would imagine a 1000LVA would do similar damage to a 850 power hammer, depending on resists and AP. I enjoy PvE as a pikeman and can kill groups fast, but I cant kill elders and probably cant take down krayts as fast as a HS,but I do pretty well.

i never get lucky with elders, so i gave up on them completely. and krayts i do fight... but i figure with a good lva, i can fight em just as well.. I think im going to be a convert here guys! heh

In PvE pikeman woops up, just that it cant really target a certain pool with its most dmging hit. Here is the thing though, since it doesnt dmg a certain pool youll do more overall dmg just wont kill it as fast. My friend and I tried to outdmg this speedcapped pikeman with an 800dmg LVA and we were hardpressed to do so. So if you dont plan on having to fight for your kills then Swordsman is your key, if you wish to inflict alot of dmg then Pikeman. Pikeman is also great for SBD's in Corvette and DWB, and if need be you can use the dot and warcry method of battle against tougher opponents. Oh and all i can say about pikeman in an NPC battle is Area Knockdown, funniest thing ever.

yea im convienced to switch... i never have to compete for my kills... plus pikeman is the only melee profession i haven't mastered so i figure i owe it to myself, hehe. thanks for opinions.

Yeah with my 800 dmg LVA, and being speed capped, I can usually outdamage swordsman on almost anything.

i loooove pikeman, i use a 600 + 16% p'up right now, until i can afford a 1k that is.. :}

i went a killed nightsisters the other day, and killed every type except elders, and got a crystal /cheer self

i did pretty good, had to run 1-2 but, i didint have my Stims D's with me...............
