Thread: My Suggestion for Balancing DOTs

I am actually quite sick and tired of hearing people cryabout DOTs in game. And am sick of people complainign especially about pikeman. I have been a long term pikeman had to drop it casue my account got hacked made a PVE template ot get all my skill tpaes bakc again and regrinded pike again once I reattained whatI lost.

I think there is too many dabblers in this game still and access to dot weps is far too easy for dabblers. I mean granted someone with just polearms 4 is slow and inaccurate but when they swingign a 300 mind fire they onyl need t ohit it once in most cases.

This is my suggestion and don't get me wrong I have some very very very nice dots and LVAs and am known for them on Bria how ever this is my proposal and I am interested to hear what you think. I think basically the issue is 2 things majorly.

1/ They should put a certification for dot weps in master blocks. (If a wep has a dot on it and you are not a master of that prof then the dot will not work how ever all other stats of the wep will function as normal.) This would deal with the dabblers

2/ Remove the ability to stack DOTs. (Meaning if someone or your self has already placed a fire dot on a stat then no more fire DOTs can be attached to that stat.)

I think if these 2 areas are addressed then then DOTs woudn't be such an issue in pvp. And not just effecting pikeman but fencer, Combat medics every profession be revamped in this way.

Those are the 2 issues I think regarding dots if fixed will bring a better standard of pvp to the game.

BUt as I said I am posting for your thoughts.

While this is a decent suggestion, in pvp most people have at least one prof mastered. As such, this would just redistribute the DOT weapons to different people. i.e., a Mpike/fencer would give up the fencer dots to get more pike dots. Not really a realistic solution, especially for high end pvp.

As far as the dabblers go, perhaps the best way to eliminate that is to reduce the number of dot weapons that drop, to effectively take out some of the ease of obtaining a dot weapon. Also, if you have a dot, and a dabbler has a dot, shouldn't you be able to do more damage with your master prof if you play it correctly?

2/ Remove the ability to stack DOTs. (Meaning if someone or your self has already placed a fire dot on a stat then no more fire DOTs can be attached to that stat.)

The ability to stack DOTs could be removed from dot weapons, meaning you can only land one mind dot with a single weapon, then can only dot the other HAM bars. However, if you remove the ability to stack DOTs altogether, this effectively eliminates the combat medic profession from the game. I don't see many people who would spend the 169 sp to master combat medic just to use ranged stims, the mind heal which is crappy atm anyway, and toss a single dot.

So maybe combine doc and cm into one prof? Otherwise your removal of dot stacking has more dramatic consequences to game balance.

I like the idea to remove DOT stacking, but I would also like to see a 75% PVP reduction on all DOT's

they should just put in "DOT Powerup" into weaponsmith, they would be sort of like powerups but have a mild poison or disease or fire and you have to master weaponsmith to make them

these "DOT Packs" will have 1 use and wont stack, unless you change weapons with the "DOT Powerup" on them, even then the poison wont be very strong lets say 50 for poison 10 for disease and 10 for fire, making them sort of useful

The packs should also have a default of 60% potency, so if you miss with the weapon you have to put the DOT Powerup on it again and this takes up inventory space and its just like a powerup so youll have to have alot out to keep putting them in your weapon

The packs can only be used on melee weapons, maybe restrict them to certain types of weapons so that ppl just dont have like 15 diffrent weapons with these packs on them, and since one you use one type of weapon you can use another of the same weapon to put another DOT.

For example, Person A takes out his LVA with a fire DOT Pack and the fire sticks, he cant just pull out another LVA because you cant use the same type of weapon again on the person so you need to use another weapon that can be equipped with this DOT Powerup"

For ranged weapons theyll be able to use these "Dot Powerups" as well but theyll be weaker than the melee or just make them not as potent

This idea sounds pretty cool to me, and it leaves CM as the only prof to inflict powerful dots

i dont mind #1 but say for #2 what if someone were to put very weak dots on each other with long duration just so someguy in pvp couldnt throw his poison or disease or stick fire or what not... I just dont like the way #2 is because there could and would be so many ways around it sadly

Just make DoT weapons for masters and make a str cap at 150 or 200.
