Thread: PvP noob needs some hints and tips.

I built my current template around what i think is a good balance between PvP and PVE, I'm master pikes, master brawler, Fencer 0/4/4/0, TKA 4/3/0/0(mainly for meditate to heal disease, wounds and poison in PVE) and medic 2/0/4/0. I also have some FS skills but nothing that would make much differance(am waiting till phase 2 so I can unlock melee spd)
I use a standard 30%dmg sliced LVA and need generaly I get full doc buffs and music/dancer buffs.gulp down 2 brandy and munch some synthsteak and poison/disease food if i think its needed. If not i have thaktillo and canape ready with some muon in reserve. also have an imp PSG equiped to go along with my 80% kinetic comp.
I have been in a couple of PvP battles while running around as a spec ops, and was wondering what I can do to be more effective.
should i be going out slaying as many LS as i can find trying to get ahold of a high dmg LVA?
although i have been playing the game a while I dont have a huge amount of cash(100-200k is generaly where my bank balance stays and if i need more cash i run some standard kliknik or baz nitch missions)
or should i drop pikes and melee and go for master rifles/master combat med?
any advice would be appreciatedand i understand that getting spd capped is quite important butas i said i dont haveenough cash.

Go out hunting stuff that drops nice loot, i.e the aakuan cave drops AA's/CA's upto 6+.. hunt nightsisters (not elders).. they drop dot LVA's, you can keep these yourself or sell 'em. Money really isn't hard to get
Once you have enough cash go to your galaxy's trade forum and buy yourself a nice high dmg pike, like 750+ dmg

NOOO NEVEREVEREVEREVEREVER DROP PIKES
i own as pve (solod ackly, slaughter all ns cept elder)with pretty much the same as u cept im Mpikr fencer444x doc2xxx and u=i have a looted 748dmg 3.2spdpike with counteratk +9 and some other mod and i find that when it comes to pvp i can keep a dead draw untill i use dots or i get dizzied.
i do all xalabars tips keep em intimidated (verry importento)/area2 till dizzy then /sweep2 till down etc targeting the action pool once down with dots fire etc... but i find that its haard to keep em down or kd them and i ruun when i see a cm in an open area even tho i have maxed my mind stats and can heal psn they still get me but im in the boat with u i cant seem towin pvp with out some really good luck and dotsso kinda im in the same boat as u only closer to getting out of it.

great template against Melee, but a ranged PvP'r will kill ya. You have no ranged mitigation. pistoleer is the best add since it comes with good defenses. Maybe sub outsome tka or fencer for it. At least enough to get ranged mit 2.
Go Nightsister and Sining mtn clan hunting to get yourself some DOT's and or dmg pikes. that'll will help turn the tide.

thanks for all the advice guys, I'll go slap some NS and see what i can come up with
ohhh just one more thing, the vibro motors etc that can be looted on Lok and are generally associated with VK's, could those be used to make a pike? and could acklay bones be used to enhance a pike in the same way as a stun baton or PH?

oh, one more thing. try your best to get your speed to 95 or so to cap at 1.0 sec per special. that'll matter more than anything.

Cap speed
Get as much accuracy and block as possible
Stack or go doc
since u're a noob and pikeman the best way to duel is w/ dots or do an unarmored duel (i prefer this)

To be effective as a Pikeman in PvP, you're going to need some money for your gear. To start off you need to be speedcapped, this will cost you millions as well as a high dmg LVA. Your best bet is to hunt NS like no other for loot. Start making some cash, 100k-200k credits is simply poor IMO. Pikeman requires a lot of attachments and mods for they have only +75 speed at master, poor accuracy and terrible toughness. Now I'm not trying to make Pikeman look bad, but since we got low toughness... our specialty is to go in for the quick kill. That's where your speed cap and high dmg LVA come into play. And don't hesitate to use dots either. You'll most likely pick up a few from hunting those NS. Also try hunting SMC, personally I've never hunted them before but I hear they drop decent stuff as well. Also take note in other mods such as Block and defense vs state attachments. So far you got a good idea for how to start aPvP battle with your foods. That is also a good skill to have, food management. You may want to consider picking up snow cake to make up for that low accuracy, especially against Master Defenders if they're a jedi and/or Fencers.
For your armor, 80% kinetic just may not cut it. When you have the funds available, look for armor that has kinetic, blast, energy in the base... not in the special resistances. Pray for a base effectiveness slice and get it up to around the 84%+ range. Also look into stun resistance, preferably 30% or higher. IMO a helmet is the most important. Since you've got pharmacology 4, you'll be able to cure off your health/action fairly well. For your stimpacks, find yourself a 12pt Doctor and pick up some 40mu 1200 heal Stim E's. These work wonders, but can be pricey depending on your server's economy.

It is expensive to be a combat medic. Rifleman/CM combo has it's ups and downs, melee would smash you. You'll need to keep up with the stimpacks/resources for the grind to Master CM and you'll need to keep stocking on poisons/diseases if you plan on PvP'ing often.
